Our University ranked 21st, improving its position, in the 2026 Research Universities Ranking, based on 2025 performance results. Among public universities, KTU ranked 18th.

The 2026 Research Universities Performance Evaluation Meeting, organized by the Council of Higher Education, was hosted by Middle East Technical University. Attended by Vice President Cevdet YILMAZ, Head of the Presidency of Strategy and Budget Ä°brahim ÅžENEL, and President of the Council of Higher Education Prof. Dr. Erol ÖZVAR, the meeting announced the 2026 performance evaluation results of 23 Research Universities and 10 candidate Research Universities.

Our University Improved Its Position One More Place

According to the announced results, our University ranked 21st in the 2026 Research Universities Ranking, based on its 2025 performance, moving up one place compared with the previous year. KTU also rose to 18th place among public universities. Continuing its efforts to enhance research capacity, increase high-quality scientific output, strengthen national and international collaborations, and increase the impact of research outcomes, our University maintained its upward trajectory among Türkiye’s Research Universities.

“Our Goal Is to Further Strengthen Our Research Capacity”

Our University was represented at the meeting by our Rector, Prof. Dr. Hamdullah ÇUVALCI, and our Vice Rector, Prof. Dr. Ömer Faruk URSAVAÅž. Commenting on the results, our Rector, Prof. Dr. Hamdullah ÇUVALCI, stated that the University’s improved ranking is an important indicator of its research-oriented development. He said, “As Karadeniz Technical University, we are carrying our long-standing scientific expertise into the future through our strong research infrastructure and highly qualified human resources. Moving up another place in the Research Universities Ranking is one of the tangible outcomes of our efforts centered on scientific output and a strong research culture. Our goal is to achieve an even higher ranking based on our 2026 performance by strengthening our high-quality publications, projects, patents, technology transfer activities, and international collaborations. I believe we will achieve this goal.”

Our Rector, Prof. Dr. Hamdullah ÇUVALCI, thanked the members of our University who contributed to this achievement, stating, “I would like to thank our academic and administrative staff, researchers, and students whose efforts have contributed to this progress, and I remember with respect those members of our University community who have passed away. We will continue to work with determination toward our goal of becoming a strong Research University that produces scientific knowledge and transforms it into social and economic value.
