KTU Advances in THE World University Rankings 2027
Our University improved its position in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2027, placing in the 1401–1600 band. According to the results announced by Times Higher Education, one of the world’s leading higher education ranking organizations, KTU advanced from the 1501+ band in the 2026 rankings to the 1401–1600 band in 2027.
The University’s progress in the overall ranking was also reflected in its performance indicators. In 2026, KTU was placed within the overall score band of 10.3–27.2; in the 2027 results. Notable improvements were also recorded in Teaching, Research Quality, and International Outlook.
Teaching Score Increases by 10.6 Points
Our University’s Teaching score increased from 24.5 in 2026 to 35.1 in 2027. The improvement in this indicator, which assesses the teaching and learning environment, reflects the University’s continued efforts to strengthen its academic capacity and educational infrastructure.
Research Quality Improves
KTU also recorded an increase in its Research Quality score, which rose from 35.1 in 2026 to 37.9 in 2027. This indicator reflects the academic impact and quality of research output, and the progress achieved represents another outcome of KTU’s continued efforts in line with its Research University status.
International Outlook Score Rises by 8.4 Points
International Outlook was another area in which our University recorded significant progress. KTU’s score increased by 8.4 points, from 27.0 in 2026 to 35.4 in 2027. The improvement in this indicator, which considers international academic collaboration and engagement with international researchers and students, contributed to strengthening the University’s position within global academic networks.

Commenting on the results, our Rector, Prof. Dr. Hamdullah ÇUVALCI, stated that this progress reflects the University’s ongoing efforts in education, research, and internationalization. He said, “To further strengthen our Research University status, we adopt an integrated approach to scientific output, high-quality research, educational quality, and international collaboration. The progress we have achieved across a significant number of indicators in THE World University Rankings is particularly valuable as it demonstrates the international impact of our efforts. Our goal is to sustain this progress and move our University further up among the world’s respected higher education institutions.”
