KTU Department of Software Development Opens New Facilities
The Department of Software Development, one of the rapidly growing departments within our University's Faculty of Science, has opened its new academic and administrative facilities. Located on the third floor of the Physics Department building, the newly renovated spaces were officially opened at a ceremony attended by University administrators and academic staff.
Established in 2024 following decisions made at the “Artificial Intelligence, Digitalization, and Big Data” meeting, the Department of Software Development aims to help meet Türkiye's growing demand for skilled software developers and expertise in artificial intelligence and digital technologies.
With its first group of students now in their third year, the department has gained dedicated facilities through the support of the Rectorate. The renovated space includes offices for the Department Chair and academic staff, an administrative office, a meeting room, a modern computer laboratory, and an archive.
New Facilities Officially Opened
The opening ceremony brought together our Rector, Prof. Dr. Hamdullah ÇUVALCI, vice rectors, Faculty of Science administrators, department chairs, and academic staff. Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, attendees gathered for a reception to discuss the department's academic vision and its goals for collaboration with industry.
Speaking at the ceremony, our Rector, Prof. Dr. Hamdullah ÇUVALCI, emphasized the importance of strengthening the infrastructure of newly established departments and preparing qualified professionals in artificial intelligence and software development. He also highlighted the University's plans to bring its computing-related units together under a dedicated technology hub.
With its flexible and innovative approach to education, the Department of Software Development equips students with essential skills in computer science, algorithms, databases, and software engineering. Supported by its modern computer laboratory and new academic facilities, the department will continue preparing qualified software developers to meet the evolving needs of the industry.
