The 15th TAOMS Scientific Symposium, organized by our Faculty of Dentistry in collaboration with the Turkish Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, brought together academics, dentists, and industry representatives from across Türkiye. The symposium, taking place from October 21 to 23, 2026, began with an opening ceremony at the Atatürk Cultural Center.

The ceremony was attended by our Rector Prof. Dr. Hamdullah ÇUVALCI, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry Prof. Dr. Tamer TAÅžDEMÄ°R, Symposium Chair Prof. Dr. Yavuz Tolga KORKMAZ, President of the Turkish Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Prof. Dr. Sırmahan ÇAKARER, as well as academics, dentists, students, and representatives of pharmaceutical and medical device companies.

Exploring the Latest Developments in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Prof. Dr. Sırmahan ÇAKARER and Prof. Dr. Yavuz Tolga KORKMAZ introduced the symposium's scientific program and highlighted the importance of sharing the latest research, clinical experiences, and developments in oral and maxillofacial surgery.

Our Rector Prof. Dr. Hamdullah ÇUVALCI expressed his pleasure in hosting the event and emphasized the growing importance of research, technology, and interdisciplinary collaboration in health sciences. He noted that advances in medical technology and innovative treatment methods are continually transforming oral and maxillofacial surgery. He also reaffirmed KTU's commitment to contributing to scientific progress through its academic expertise, healthcare facilities, and research activities.

Experts Share Research and Clinical Experience

Following the opening speeches, the symposium continued with its scientific sessions. The first presentation was delivered by Prof. Dr. Ümit ERAÅž on "Surgical Landmarks and Clinical Tips in Orthognathic Surgery."

The sessions scheduled for October 22 will feature presentations by Prof. Dr. Hakan Alpay KARASU, Prof. Dr. Nilüfer ÖZKAN, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kevser TÜTÜNCÜLER, Prof. Dr. Sinan UÇKAN, and Prof. Dr. Ömür DERECÄ°. Topics will include multidisciplinary approaches to complex maxillofacial cases, digital planning in orthognathic surgery, maxillary expansion techniques, sleep apnea treatments, and the evaluation of jaw lesions.

On October 23, the final day of the symposium, Prof. Dr. Firdevs ÅžENEL, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Sancar ATAÇ, Dr. Kerem Turgut ATASOY, and Specialist Dr. Onur YILMAZ will share their knowledge and clinical experience in evidence-based implantology, bone augmentation in atrophic jaws, zygomatic implants, and subperiosteal implants.

Bringing together specialists to discuss innovative treatments, digital technologies, and current surgical approaches, the 15th TAOMS Scientific Symposium will conclude on October 23, 2026.
