About

Welcome to the Molecular Microbiology Group

Our research group conducts studies at the intersection of virology, molecular biology, and biotechnology. The primary focus of our work is to understand the molecular structure, gene functions, and host interaction mechanisms of viruses, with a particular emphasis on insect viruses such as Entomopoxviruses.

Within this scope, we perform functional analyses of viral protein kinases and virus structural proteins, while also advancing studies on recombinant protein production and vaccine development. Our group aims to contribute to both basic science and applied biotechnology by researching pathogen-specific molecules such as SARS-CoV-2 proteins and bee virus proteins.

In addition, our group focuses on insect pathogens and biological control strategies, aiming to develop sustainable and innovative solutions against agricultural pests. We are also engaged in research on molecular diagnostic systems, protein expression platforms, and secondary metabolite production.

Our application areas include viral vaccine development, oncolytic virotherapy, cancer gene therapy, and the investigation of antimicrobial effects of biological materials. In this regard, our group carries out translational research that contributes to both health sciences and agricultural biotechnology.
