The 9th International Erasmus+ Staff Week on Sustainability Was Organized at Karadeniz Technical University

The 9th International Erasmus+ Staff Week on Sustainability was organized by the Office of Exchange Programmes at Karadeniz Technical University between the dates of 3-7 November 2025. 23 representatives from 11 different countries and 15 different universities attended the event during which Karadeniz Technical University and city of Trabzon were introduced to the participating university representatives.

The event, which facilitated the necessary negotiations to secure new bilateral agreements within the scope of the Erasmus+ Programme, also significantly contributed to Karadeniz Technical University's international visibility. This edition of the event incorporated the theme of sustainability and it was planned to directly contribute to Karadeniz Technical University's international global rankings.

On November 3, 2025, the opening speech was delivered by Karadeniz Technical University's Vice Rector Responsible for International Relations, Prof. Dr. Ali TEMIZ, and General Coordinator for International Relations, Prof. Dr. Sercan EROL. In addition to the opening speech, presentations were given introducing Karadeniz Technical University along with city of Trabzon’s history, culture and local cuisine as well as Turkish culture and language.

On November 4, 2025, participating university representatives made presentations introducing their institutions and countries. During the same day’s afternoon, a mini-fair themed "Participants' Exhibition" was held in front of Faculty of Science, where participating universities showcased their countries, universities and local cuisine. The staff members and students of Karadeniz Technical University showed great interest in the fair.

On November 5, 2025, tours were organized to Trabzon's historical and cultural landmarks. These included visits to the Hagia Sophia Mosque and Museum, Ataturk’s Pavillion, Gulbahar Hatun Mosque and Tomb, Ottoman Culture House of Suleiman the Magnificent and Sumela Monastery.

On November 6, 2025, Office of Exchange Programmes gave introductory presentations to participants about "Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programmes" and "Erasmus+ Youth Exchanges." Furthermore, Deputy Coordinator of International Relations, Assist. Prof. Dr. Hasan Islam COPUROGLU made two presentations on "An Academic Journey: Erasmus+ and Beyond" and "Sustainability in Erasmus+." Following these presentations, presentations were given by the students themselves detailing their Erasmus+ experiences and ESN Trabzon made a presentation to introduce their student network. On the same day, representatives from participating higher education institutions visited the Medical Device Design and Manufacturing Research and Application Center and the Pharmaceutical and Pharmaceutical Technology Application and Research Center of Karadeniz Technical University.

On November 7, 2025, a social event was held at the Office of International Relations, where a presentation was made on the stages of keychain production using sailor's knot. At the end of the event, participants received the keychains they had created as souvenirs. On the same day, a campus tour of Karadeniz Technical University was organized including the social, sports and accommodation facilities. At the end of the tour, the Rectorate Building was visited. Participants were hosted by the Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Omer URSAVAS. The visit concluded with a commemorative photo.

At the closing ceremony, certificates were presented to the participants by Prof. Dr. Sercan EROL, General Coordinator of International Relations at Karadeniz Technical University.
