why KTU software engineering?

The Software Engineering Department within the Faculty of Technology at Karadeniz Technical University (KTU) is one of the four state universities offering software engineering programs out of a total of 22 universities in Turkey. Being part of a technical university, KTU's Software Engineering Department holds the distinction of being the first and only one of its kind in Turkey. Moreover, it stands out from other departments due to its specialized academic staff in various fields and its strong connections with the industry.

Young and dynamic academic staff and quality education: Our department provides quality education with a successful team of faculty members and modern computer laboratories. The achievements of our graduates in the software sector and the feedback we receive from the companies they work for are the greatest sources of motivation for our teaching staff. In their final years, our students work on design and graduation projects under the guidance of their academic advisors. The success of our students who qualify for TUBITAK project support in their graduation projects is considered by companies in job applications.

Employment before graduation: Our students complete internships in the country's largest information technology and defense industry companies. As a result of these experiences, lasting approximately six months from June to January, they receive job offers from the companies they interned with before they even graduate (this rate is approximately 60%). The majority of our students start their jobs with salaries ranging from 2 to 7 times the minimum wage at the companies where they completed their internships. Considering that finding employment is quite challenging and most new graduates start their jobs at the minimum wage in many engineering fields, the success of KTU Software Engineering graduates is remarkable.

All of our department's graduates work in the software sector and practice their profession as software engineers. Not only do we not have any unemployed graduates, but we also do not have any graduates working in jobs outside the software sector or unrelated to their profession. This achievement is the result of the collective success of the teaching staff and graduate students of KTU, Faculty of Technology, Software Engineering Department.

Today's and tomorrow's profession: Software Engineering is at the center of popular technologies like Artificial Intelligence and at the intersection of all sectors. Nearly all of the world's top 10 largest-budget companies operate in the software and information technology sectors.

Career opportunities: Erasmus student mobility program opportunities, domestic and international career opportunities.
