why to study economics?

General Information about Economics

Economics can be broadly defined as a social science that studies the production, distribution, and consumption of goods and services.  In this context, economics deals with fundamental issues such as how individuals, firms, governments, and countries should use scarce resources in the most optimal way, how to make appropriate choices, how to produce goods and services, and how to increase welfare.

There are two main ways to learn about economies: microeconomics and macroeconomics. Microeconomics examines the economic decisions of individuals and firms. In contrast, macroeconomics looks at the economy as a whole, both nationally and globally.

Economic events or developments are monitored through economic indicators such as foreign trade, unemployment, inflation, interest rates, Gross Domestic Product (GDP), growth, and exchange rates, which are closely followed in daily life. As can be understood, the science of economics monitors, analyzes, and interprets basic economic indicators that closely concern society, and contributes to the formulation of policies and the guidance of expectations. In this respect, economics is life itself.
