Arrangements Regarding the Educational Objectives of the Program

Program and course learning outcomes, which are prepared within the scope of the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS), can be revised in line with the decisions taken at the Department academic board meetings and various regulations made by our University. In the coming period, the educational objectives of the program will be developed and improved in line with the opinions and suggestions to be obtained from stakeholder meetings and other feedback mechanisms.

Using the Data of Testing and Evaluation System

Currently, data on assessment and evaluation can be accessed at the end of each semester on a departmental basis through two separate schedules: “the Course Evaluation Schedule” and “the Course and Course Supervisor Evaluation Surveys Schedule”. In addition, Active Student, Graduate Student, and Employer surveys have also started to be conducted. Within the framework of the data obtained from the surveys, practices for improvement and development will start to be implemented, and information about them will be shared on the Department web page.

Arrangements Regarding Course Programs

Changes can be made in the course plan of our Department in line with the emerging needs. For example, within the scope of the Bologna process, revisions were made in the course programs with the decisions of the Department Board dated 26.05.2010, 05.12.2011, 12.06.2013, and 25.04.2014. In the coming period, the program will be developed and improved in line with the opinions and suggestions to be obtained from stakeholder meetings and other feedback mechanisms.

In addition to the core courses, to appeal to students' interests and to provide multidisciplinary study, a large pool of elective courses is tried to be created. In this direction, in addition to the elective courses of the Department, elective courses such as History of Science, Professional Ethics, General Sociology, Protection of Personal Data, Project Management, Career Planning, Technology Addiction, and Project Management from the University Elective Pool are included in the Department's course plan.

In the context of organizing the syllabus, the curricula and syllabi of the leading and prestigious economics departments in Türkiye and in the world are followed. The trends and dynamics in the field of economics in the world are tried to be captured and integrated into the syllabus.

Diversifying the Academic Staff and Improving Publication Performance

Our Department has a sufficient number of academic staff in the Departments of Economic Theory, Economic Policy, Economic Development and International Economics and Economic History. In this framework, the distribution of academic staff specialized and diversified in basic fields such as Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, International Economics, Economic Policy, Economic Development/Development, International Finance, Foreign Trade, Economics/ Economic Thought and Environmental Economics has been ensured. In addition, new faculty members and staff are being recruited to further strengthen the Department. In addition to the diversification and strengthening of the program, research and development activities are constantly encouraged. For this purpose, academic collaborations of faculty members with external faculty members trained in different disciplines are encouraged.

It is observed that practices such as Karadeniz Technical University Directive on Promotion and Appointment to Faculty Membership, Karadeniz Technical University Award Directive, and Regulation Governing Academic Incentive Allowance have a significant impact on the improvement of publication performance in our Department. Within this framework, faculty members of the Department have won awards and certificates of appreciation in categories such as Young Scientist, University-level academic incentive performance, and H-index performance within the framework of academic publication performance.

Improvements in Computer Laboratory Facilities

Our faculty has 2 computer laboratories with 82 highly equipped computers. Through these laboratories, computer-aided education is provided to our students. In addition, licensed versions of various statistics and econometrics package programs are available in our computer laboratories for our students to conduct applied studies. Through these programs, students' empirical study skills are tried to be increased.
