quality Policy

The faculty is in an ongoing strategic planning process with identified missions to determine, monitor and improve strategic goals and performance indicators of the faculty. In this context, The Strategic Plan of the Engineering Faculty (2014-2018) was prepared in 2012, and the Strategic Plan studies for the years (2019-2023) were already completed.

The evaluation and accreditation studies are carried out by the Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Engineering Programs (MÜDEK) for the programs belonging to the departments of the Engineering Faculty. Accreditation evaluation processes, for which the preparations were started in 2007, were first started by the Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering Departments, and then all our departments were accredited by the MÜDEK until 2020. The Department of Industrial Engineering will be included in the accreditation program in 2020. The MÜDEK accreditation has a rich archive as a characteristic of its institutional structure, and improvement studies at the university mostly start from the Engineering Faculty.

The MÜDEK has been authorized by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) with a Quality Evaluation and Registration Certificate since 2007. Thus, with the resolution of the General Assembly of YÖK, it was recognized as a national quality assurance institution focused on national, sectoral and program competencies in the engineering programs of higher education institutions.

The MÜDEK was first evaluated by the European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education (ENAEE) in 2009 and authorized to issue the EUR-ACE Label to the undergraduate (Bachelor) programs accredited by the resolution of the ENAEE Executive Board. Thus, in 2009, the MÜDEK became the 7th accreditation agency with the authorization to issue the EUR-ACE Label. It was evaluated by an evaluation panel coordinated by ENAEE in 2013 and composed of international experts within the scope of European Standards and Principles (ESG) Chapters 2 and 3, and the evaluation panel concluded that the MÜDEK fully met the standards specified in ESG Sections 2.1-2.8 and 3.1-3.8. ESG Chapters 2 and 3 define the standards related to external quality assurance processes that are expected to be followed in the European Higher Education Area, and the standards that are expected to be adhered by external quality assurance agencies operating to carry out these processes, respectively.

The MÜDEK was evaluated by a panel of experts coordinated by the Washington Accord under the umbrella of the International Engineering Alliance (IEA), and was awarded the right to become a signatory (full member) of the Washington Accord, a multilateral accreditation recognition agreement, as of June 15, 2011. The MÜDEK was re-evaluated with respect to the IEA Rules and Procedures by the Washington Accord Periodic Evaluation Team in the 2016-2017 period, and the MÜDEK's Washington Accord full signatory (membership) status was extended until June 2023.

Within the faculty, there are students and scientists who go to/are from universities with an Erasmus program. Besides, Scientist Employment Creation Commissions were established in our departments and foreign scientists were allowed to work in our departments. In addition, it is foreseen that 100% English programs will be opened in our departments to employ foreign students and faculty members. In this context, these programs were opened in the Departments of Civil and ElectricalElectronics Engineering and student admissions began. Preparations on this topic still continue in the other departments.

Engineering Faculty programs hold the EUR-ACE label as they passed the accreditation evaluation by the MÜDEK and are included in the European Engineering Education Database by the FEANI. Our faculty, together with 13 engineering programs, is included in the "European Engineering Education Database", which is known as the "FEANI index" and is a federation of professional engineers. Therefore, the engineers who graduate from our engineering programs get the right to work in European countries.

The FEANI is a federation of professional engineers uniting national engineering associations from 34 European Higher Education Area (EHEA) countries. With more than 350 engineering associations in 34 European countries, FEANI is an organization that represents the interests of more than 3.5 million professional engineers in Europe. The FEANI is a founding member of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO) and collaborates with many other organizations that receive education on engineering and technology subjects. The FEANI is officially recognized by the European Commission as it represents the engineering profession in Europe. The Federation also has consultative status with the UNESCO, UNIDO and the Council of Europe.
