The Public Relations and Promotion unit plays a vital role in enhancing Karadeniz Technical University's institutional reputation and fostering its values. By developing strategic communication activities, it strengthens the university's connection with its staff, students, and stakeholders. Through innovative promotional initiatives, effective collaboration with public institutions, and active participation in national and international platforms, the department ensures the university's identity and achievements are recognized widely. It also supports internal productivity and engagement, contributing to the university’s mission of being a leading academic and research institution. In line with these, the unit has the following duties:
- To conduct research and planning for strategic communication activities aimed at promoting the university's institutional reputation and values, ensuring their implementation and evaluation.
- To design activities (ideas for motivation, social events, etc.) to strengthen the sense of belonging to the institutional culture and enhance productivity for the university's academic and administrative staff.
- To assist in developing an effective communication strategy for the university's human target audience and institutional stakeholders, and support the organization of events such as conferences, panels, and symposiums.
- To provide support in directing incoming information requests to the relevant departments.
- To carry out activities to design the university’s identity in a way that sets an example both internally and externally to employees and society.
- To assist in tracking collaboration opportunities with other public institutions and organizations, evaluating incoming partnership requests.
- To play an active role in designing, editing, and printing promotional materials for the university and facilitate their delivery to requesting institutions.
- To participate in national and international promotional activities for the university, and play an active role in organizing tours for institutions requesting visits or hosting them for promotional purposes.
The Content Design unit is dedicated to overseeing the design and development of content requested by stakeholders while ensuring alignment with Karadeniz Technical University's institutional identity and values. This unit actively participates in creating original and cohesive institutional content, including text and visuals, tailored for diverse platforms and mediums. By managing the collection, analysis, processing, and presentation of information with creative solutions, it establishes standardized models for content flow, ensuring consistency across institutional channels. Moreover, the department focuses on transforming unstructured data into structured formats, fostering reusable resources, and maintaining originality in all institutional content while supporting efficient and streamlined communication processes. In line with these, the unit has the following duties:
- To manage the design and content creation process for all types of content requested by the University's stakeholders.
- To play an active role in designing institutional content by considering the University's tangible and intangible identity elements.
- To develop creative ideas for designing the text and visuals of content planned to be featured on different platforms and delivered through various media related to the University.
- To take the initiative in the stages of collecting, analyzing, processing, and presenting any information related to content featured on institutional platforms, along with its visuals.
- To support the recording, controlling, and final publishing process of the content flow across the University's different platforms within a unified framework.
- To create a model for standardizing and structuring unorganized information sources within institutional processes.
- To ensure the original design of content in an institutional format, making it suitable for use through various channels, publishing it, and transforming it into a reusable information resource.
- To design a comprehensive process for managing types and structures of institutional content when necessary.
The Web Design and Development unit was established in 2013 under the Directorate of Informatics. It subsequently became part of the Secretary General in 2014, the Directorate of Information Technologies in 2017, and finally the Corporate Communication Office in 2021, where it continues its activities.
As part of efforts to manage KTU's web pages, the Web Management System (WYS) was specifically designed and launched in 2013 as a web software package. It provides various conveniences for creating, editing, and publishing new content on the website. The decision was made to develop a dynamic, continuously evolving, scalable, and user-centered website that is open to new technologies and aligned with the University's corporate identity.

The Media (Radio and Television) unit plays a crucial role in shaping and communicating the public image of the University. This unit is responsible for managing the dissemination of the University’s academic, administrative, and institutional activities across a variety of platforms, including traditional media channels such as radio, television, and newspapers, as well as digital media like the university’s website and social media accounts. By creating and sharing high-quality, original content, this unit ensures the University’s values, achievements, and activities are accurately represented to both internal and external audiences. Additionally, the unit works to strengthen relationships with national and local press, enhancing the University’s visibility and impact in the broader public domain. In line with these, the unit has the following duties:
- To share the activities of the University's academic and administrative units with the public through institutional, local, and national media channels, including auditory, visual, written media (Radio, TV, and Newspapers), and digital media (website, social media accounts).
- To ensure that the University’s corporate experience and knowledge appear accurately in relevant platforms through high-quality and original content, in line with the characteristics of media environments.
- To develop and implement ideas aimed at increasing the efficiency of the University’s activities in media environments and reflecting the institutional culture ideally.
- To ensure corporate integrity among university units and establish a common model for effective management of the data flow in digital environments.
- To be decisive in the production, design, and distribution of written, visual, and auditory content through appropriate platforms to strengthen the University's public image.
- To play an active role in developing and managing relations with the national and local press (such as holding press information meetings, preparing press releases, etc.).
- To manage the data flow on the University’s website (slider, news, announcements, events) and oversee the management of social media accounts.
