The "Karadeniz Technical University Corporate Identity Manuel" has been prepared in accordance with the University's historical and cultural characteristics, mission, and vision, based on the following principles and steps:
The design of the Karadeniz Technical University emblem dates back to 1968. The emblem represents the concepts of humanity, science, and the universe that brings them together. Over the years, the emblem has gone through several stages, evolving into a stamp-like logo with the university's name and founding year around it. In the course of the corporate identity work, the original drawings of the emblem could not be accessed. Therefore, the aim was to preserve the emblem's semantic essence while improving its geometric structure. The design improvement was intended to make the emblem more easily perceivable without disturbing the visual memory of the KTU emblem in people's minds. Through minimal adjustments, the emblem was simplified and balanced.
Rather than using the existing stamp-like logo as the main logo, a new logo was designed that combines the university emblem with an abbreviation, which better represents the corporate identity, also incorporating the founding year. Based on this design, a logo family was created, and the usage of each logo type was defined.
The primary and secondary fonts that align with the corporate identity were selected. The fonts reflect the geometric simplicity of the emblem, maintaining harmony with the university's corporate identity.
To represent the various units and subunits of the university, colors and abbreviations were assigned according to the university's organizational structure. This completed the core elements of the identity.
Through the new logo, colors, abbreviations, and their combinations, all letterheads, printed materials, digital documents, and designs were created.
Work is ongoing for internet pages, promotional products, external and internal directional signage, and furniture designs. These will be gradually made available in the near future.
This guide, created within the framework of the corporate identity work, will ensure that KTU's corporate identity is effectively and consistently maintained across all communication channels.
