Karadeniz Technical University Sürmene Abdullah Kanca Vocational School was built by the late philanthropist businessman Abdullah Kanca. He was a pioneer entrepreneur who started in the iron and steel sector by producing hammers and hand tools in a modest workshop, eventually transforming his company into a factory that supplies automotive parts to world-renowned car manufacturers.
The Kanca family prepared the school with all its infrastructure for education and handed it over to Karadeniz Technical University. A large portion of the laboratory equipment was also provided by the Kanca family.
The school is located 40 km from the airport (Trabzon and KTU), 250 meters from the Sürmene İsminaz Kanca KYK Dormitory, 7 km from the Of Aşık Kutlu KYK Dormitory, and 30 km from the Yomra KYK Dormitory. Transportation is provided by municipal buses and private minibuses. The school is situated in a settlement where the blue of the sea meets the green of nature, and there is also a shipyard in the town.
