Tackling Global Plastic Pollution: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Uğur Uzuner Shares Patented Biotechnological Solutions

On April 28, 2026, our department hosted a highly significant event centered on environmental sustainability and modern biotechnology at the Nazım Terzioğlu Lecture Hall.

Our esteemed faculty member, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Uğur Uzuner, engaged the audience with his compelling seminar titled "Biotechnological and Sustainable Approaches in the Fight Against Plastic Pollution." During his presentation, Dr. Uzuner drew attention to the severe ecological pressure exerted by plastic waste—arguably one of the most pressing environmental crises of our time. He shared cutting-edge biotechnological strategies for the biological recovery and degradation of these materials, highlighting his own pioneering scientific research and patented innovations in the field.

Strongly aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly "Clean Water and Sanitation" (Goal 6) and "Responsible Consumption and Production" (Goal 12), this seminar saw wide attendance from both our students and academic staff. Furthermore, this environmentally conscious gathering directly supports our institution's strategic metric regarding the Number of events organized during the year towards sustainable development goals.

We thank Dr. Uzuner for sharing his global vision and innovative solutions for a sustainable future.
