Our faculty hosted significant international academic events on October 21, 2025. Through the initiative of Dr. Özgenç AKIN, a faculty member from our Geophysics Engineering Department, Assistant Professor Dr. Handoyo HANDOYO and Associate Dean of the Faculty, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sena MAULANA, from the Sumatera Institute of Technology (ITERA) in Indonesia visited our faculty. Our Head of Geophysics Engineering Department, Prof. Dr. Nilgün Lütfiye SAYIL, also participated in the event.

During the visit, Assist. Prof. Dr. Handoyo HANDOYO delivered a valuable presentation entitled “Potential Geological Carbon Capture Storage in Sumatra: From Sediment to Igneous Rock Potentials.” Dr. Handoyo's presentation broadened our faculty's scientific vision and made significant contributions to interdisciplinary studies. We thank him for this valuable presentation.

On the same day, collaboration discussions were held between our faculty and the Institute Teknologi Sumatera (ITERA), and a preliminary protocol was signed. We would like to thank Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sena MAULANA and our faculty member Dr. Özgenç AKIN for their great efforts in making this meaningful collaboration a reality, and we hope that academic and scientific projects will progress fruitfully between the two institutions.
