Zero Waste Environment and Climate Change Workshop Held

The “Türkiye Zero Waste Environment and Climate Change Workshop” was held at our University under the auspices of the Trabzon Governorship, organized by the Zero Waste Foundation in cooperation with the Trabzon Provincial Directorate of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, Trabzon Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality, Karadeniz Technical University, Trabzon University, and Avrasya University.

The Türkiye Zero Waste Workshops aim to implement a goal-oriented and continuously updated management system that identifies environmental priorities across all 81 provinces of Türkiye. The program is carried out through a broad stakeholder network consisting of governorships, universities, public institutions, municipalities, professional chambers, cooperatives, NGOs, private sector representatives, and volunteers.

Within the scope of the project, each city’s short-, medium-, and long-term goals in many areas ranging from waste prevention and waste management to climate and recycling will be determined through workshops and announced to the public during conferences as the “City Zero Waste Target Document.” These determined targets will be regularly monitored by a board to be established within the governorships.

The workshop and conference cycle will be renewed annually based on March 30, and the targets will be regularly updated in line with implemented practices and the needs of the city.
