The 6th Politics and International Relations Congress was held at Prof. Dr. Osman Turan Culture and Congress Center between October 18-21 with the contributions of Karadeniz Technical University Department of International Relations and Strategic Research Center. our Rector Prof. Dr. Hamdullah ÇUVALCI and Prof. Dr. Hüseyin BAÄžCI, Faculty Member of METU Department of International Relations and President of Foreign Policy Institute, gave the opening speeches of the congress.

'Global Crises must be Resolved'

Addressing the participants at the congress, our Rector Prof. Dr. Hamdullah ÇUVALCI emphasized the globalization of our university from local to global. Prof. Dr. Hamdullah ÇUVALCI, pointing to the changing world politics, said, "In our age when world politics is undergoing rapid change and transformation, societies are deeply affected by crises occurring anywhere in the world, and the political effects of these crises can last for many years. In this context, I hope that the issues discussed in the congress hosted by our university will bring solutions to political crises, and I would like to express my happiness that our university is hosting an important conference." In the congress, 153 academicians, researchers, and decision-makers who are experts in their fields came together. 119 presentations were made in 28 sessions, in which studies in different fields, such as foreign policy, political science, international relations, and history, were opened to discussion.

'The International System is about to Transform'

The 6th Politics and International Relations Congress, which attracted intense participation, was chaired by Özgün ERLER BAYIR from Istanbul University. Different participants gave presentations, including a Faculty Member of Kadir Has University and the President of the International Relations Council (IAC)Prof. Dr. Mustafa AYDIN, Journalist from T24 Barçin YÄ°NANÇ, Faculty Member of Kadir Has University Prof. Dr. Serhat GÜVENÇ, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Kaan Kutlu ATAÇ from Mersin University. Participants discussed Turkiye's transatlantic relations at a time when the international system is at the dawn of a transformation.

"The Best Doctoral Dissertation Award in 2023 "

This year's winner of the "Best Doctoral Dissertation Award", which has become a tradition of the Political Science and International Relations Congresses, was Dr. TuÄŸçe KELLECÄ°. In the congress, our Rector Prof. Dr. Hamdullah ÇUVALCI presented her award. Besides, Ortahisar Mayor Ahmet Metin GENÇ, Esq gave her a present for her success.
