Our University Ranked Among Europe's Top 200 Higher Education Institutions in EngiRank 2025

The results of the European Ranking of Engineering Programmes (EngiRank) 2025, one of Europe’s most prestigious ranking systems in the field of engineering, have been announced. In the list, where Turkish higher education institutions were evaluated for the first time and demonstrated strong performance, our University ranked 13th among Turkish universities and placed 198th overall, securing a position among Europe’s top 200 higher education institutions.

EngiRank evaluated 300 higher education institutions across 36 countries in the European Higher Education Area, based on a five-year performance period covering 2020–2024. Closely monitored by the European Commission, the ranking considers multifaceted indicators, such as academic publications, citations, participation in European Research Council projects, Erasmus+ and Horizon Europe activities, engineering accreditation, patents, industry cooperations, and contributions to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Among the 16 institutions from Türkiye that succeeded in entering EngiRank 2025, our University’s achievement underscores once again its strong tradition in engineering, its research capacity, and its international academic visibility.

Commenting on the ranking, our Rector Prof. Dr. Hamdullah ÇUVALCI stated, “As Karadeniz Technical University, we are pleased to see yet another concrete outcome of our strategic efforts since 2020 to enhance scientific output, technological capacity, and international research cooperations. Being ranked among Europe’s top 200 Engineering Schools in EngiRank’s comprehensive assessment is a clear indication that our University’s long-standing academic tradition, highly qualified staff, and strong research infrastructure are recognized globally. KTU is not only an institution with notable achievements but also a growing ‘Research University’ with a forward-looking vision. We will continue strengthening our R&D ecosystem, expanding industry partnerships, and advancing our internationalization efforts with determination. I sincerely congratulate all our academics, researchers, and students who contributed to this success.”

With its performance in EngiRank 2025, our University has further strengthened its visibility within the European higher education landscape and reinforced its competitive position in the fields of Engineering and Technology.
