New Route for the Global Scientific Network: KTU Receives TÜBİTAK Support for 5 International Researcher Projects

Five projects prepared by academics from our university’s Faculty of Engineering have been deemed eligible for support under TÜBİTAK’s International Researcher Support Programmes.

Five projects prepared by academics from different departments of our university’s Faculty of Engineering have been deemed eligible for support under TÜBİTAK’s International Researcher Support Programmes. Within the scope of these projects, leading and young researchers, as well as visiting scientists currently conducting their research in different countries, will be able to carry out their research at our University.

5 Projects Receive International Researcher Support

According to the TÜBİTAK evaluation results, five projects prepared under the coordination of academics from the Departments of Geological Engineering, Geomatics Engineering, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, and Mining Engineering within our university’s Faculty of Engineering have qualified for support.

The projects supported under the TÜBİTAK 2232-A International Fellowship for Outstanding Researchers Programme, 2232-B International Fellowship for Early-Stage Researchers Programme, and 2221 Fellowships for Visiting Scientists and Scientists on Academic Leave (Sabbatical) Programme are as follows:

2 projects from the TÜBİTAK 2232-A International Fellowship for Outstanding Researchers Programme:

Department of Geological Engineering: The project of Prof. Dr. Osamu Ishizuka, a Leading Researcher from the Geological Survey of Japan, under the coordination of Prof. Dr. Orhan Karsli and Prof. Dr. Hady Shafaei Moghaddam.

Department of Geomatics Engineering: The project of Prof. Dr. Hosein Azadi, a Leading Researcher from Ghent University, Belgium, under the coordination of Prof. Dr. Yakup Emre Çoruhlu.

2 projects from the TÜBİTAK 2232-B International Fellowship for Early-Stage Researchers Programme:

Department of Geological Engineering: The project of Dr. Murat Taner Tamer, an Early-Stage Researcher from the TU Bergakademie Freiberg, Germany, under the coordination of Prof. Dr. Orhan Karsli and Prof. Dr. Hady Shafaei Moghaddam.

Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering: The project of Dr. Deniz Erisen, an Early-Stage Researcher from the Guangdong Academy of Sciences, China, under the coordination of Prof. Dr. Temel Varol.

1 project from the TÜBİTAK 2221 Fellowship Programme for Visiting Scientists and Scientists on Academic Leave (Sabbatical):

Department of Mining Engineering: The project of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Davood Fereidooni, a Visiting Researcher from Damghan University, Iran, under the coordination of Prof. Dr. Ferdi Cihangir.

International Research Experience to Be Brought to Our University

Within the scope of the supported projects, the researchers who will come to our university will conduct their scientific studies here and contribute to bringing international knowledge and experience to our University. In particular, the 2232-A and 2232-B programmes provide researchers with support for periods of up to 24 to 36 months, as well as opportunities for research initiation, project funding, and the establishment of research teams. This structure will contribute to the development of new academic collaborations, joint projects and publications, as well as research teams.

The studies to be conducted by the researchers at our university are also expected to create new opportunities for graduate students and young researchers in terms of interaction with international scientists and gaining research experience.

“Bringing International Scientists to Our University Is of Great Value to Us”

Stating that this achievement will contribute to the development of our university’s international research capacity, our Rector, Prof. Dr. Hamdullah Çuvalci, said: “In line with our vision as a Research University, we attach great importance to bringing qualified human resources and international scientists to our university. The support provided to five of our projects under TÜBİTAK’s international researcher support programmes is a significant achievement in terms of strengthening our university’s research capacity and potential for academic collaboration. I congratulate all our academics who contributed to this success and wish the scientists who will conduct their research at our university every success in their work.”

The international researchers who will come to our university within the scope of these projects will contribute to our research infrastructure, academic collaborations, and project capacity, while also helping to expand opportunities for graduate students and young researchers to work with international scientists and exchange knowledge.
