Major Contributions by KTU Students to the Project Ecosystem

Karadeniz Technical University actively supports the participation of our associate, undergraduate, and postgraduate students in the project ecosystem through its Technology Transfer Application and Research Center (TTM), the Scientific Research Projects Coordination Unit (BAP), and other relevant R&D units. This support is provided through both institutional funding opportunities and guidance toward external funding sources.

Our associate, undergraduate, and postgraduate students are encouraged to conduct research and become actively involved in the research ecosystem through the support they receive under TÜBİTAK BİDEB (2209 and 2247/C), TÜBİTAK BiGG, TÜSEB A Group, KTU BAP06, and KTU BAP09 project programs.

Through these programs, our students:

  • Benefit from internal funding opportunities through KTU BAP support;
  • Gain access to national external funding opportunities by being directed to research and development organizations such as TÜBİTAK and TÜSEB;
  • Acquire hands-on experience in scientific research and the development of innovative solutions;
  • Take their first steps into the research ecosystem and develop a strong project-oriented culture.

The statistical data for our university covering the 2021–2026 period are as follows:

  • Under the TÜBİTAK 2209/A University Students Research Projects Support Program, 1,714 associate and undergraduate students submitted applications, and 988 of these projects were awarded funding.
  • Under the TÜBİTAK 2209/B University Students Research Projects Support Program, 246 associate and undergraduate students submitted applications, of which 145 were awarded funding.
  • Under the TÜBİTAK BiGG Program, 28 project applications were submitted, and 7 projects were selected for funding.
  • Under the TÜSEB A2 Support Program for Master's Students, 4 master's students submitted applications, and all four projects were awarded funding.
  • Under the KTU BAP09 Undergraduate Student Project Program, a total of 271 applications were submitted, and 245 projects received funding.
  • Under the KTU BAP06 Postgraduate Thesis Projects Program, a total of 485 applications were submitted, and 442 projects were funded.

The steadily increasing participation of our students in project-based activities continues to strengthen our University's innovative and productive academic environment while providing students with valuable opportunities to distinguish themselves in both academia and the professional world.
