KTU Strengthens International Partnerships at EAIE 2025

Karadeniz Technical University (KTU) proudly took part in the European Association for International Education (EAIE) 2025 Conference and Exhibition, held on 9–12 September in Gothenburg, Sweden. The event brought together over 6,000 university representatives from more than 90 countries. Representing Türkiye alongside 88 other universities under the “Study in Türkiye” pavilion, KTU enhanced its global visibility and opened new doors for student exchanges, internships, and academic collaborations.

KTU was represented by Rector Prof. Dr. Hamdullah ÇUVALCI, Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Ali TEMİZ, Coordinator of the Office of International Relations Prof. Dr. Sercan EROL, Lecturer Zehra ŞAHİN BEKTAŞ, and Lecturer Çiğdem HÜSEM. The team held numerous bilateral meetings aimed at fostering mobility for both students and staff.

Expanding Cooperation Opportunities

During the event, KTU representatives met with universities from Poland, France, South Korea, Hungary, Sweden, Denmark, Romania, Italy, Portugal, Peru, Germany, South Africa, and the United States. Discussions also included cooperation on Horizon Europe projects, Erasmus Mundus Joint Programmes, Capacity Building projects, the European Solidarity Corps, and European Universities Alliances.

Key Agreements

A Letter of Intent (LoI) was signed with Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), ranked 134th in the QS World University Rankings 2026. Another LoI was signed with Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah University, ranked 609th in the QS World Rankings. Talks were also held with Georgian National University to host medical internship students. A KA171 agreement with the University of British Columbia (Canada) is now in its final stage.

Strategic Engagements

KTU expressed interest in joining the prestigious “Heroes Euroka European University Alliances”, further strengthening its role in European higher education. During the fair, Rector Prof. Dr. ÇUVALCI also presented a plaque to Turkish National Agency President İlker ASTARCI, underlining KTU’s strong commitment to internationalization.

Visit to the Palestine Pavilion

In a special gesture, Rector Prof. Dr. ÇUVALCI visited the Palestine stand, extending support to Palestinian universities and educational institutions, while emphasizing the significance of the Gaza cause. Joined by other Turkish rectors, the visit reflected a spirit of academic solidarity and a call for global peace.
