KTU Launches a New Era in Research and Innovation: Two New Centers Established in Artificial Intelligence and Sensor Technologies

Our university has taken a pioneering step in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, and Sensor and Detector Technologies by establishing two new Research and Application Centers aimed at enhancing scientific research, advancing technological development, and further strengthening "University-Industry Collaboration." These centers, officially recognized through regulations published in the Official Gazette on May 4, 2025, will significantly expand KTU’s research vision on both national and international levels.

Artificial Intelligence and Data Science Research and Application Center

Established in accordance with the published regulation, the Artificial Intelligence and Data Science Research and Application Center aims to conduct research and development activities in the fields of AI and data science, to train qualified human resources specialized in these domains, and to promote interdisciplinary collaboration. The Center will work on enhancing the applicability of AI-based solutions in sectors such as industry, education, healthcare, finance, and logistics; and will develop national and international projects in collaboration with public institutions, universities, and the private sector.

Sensor and Detector Technologies Research and Application Center (KTU-SETAM)

Also established by regulation on the same date, the Sensor and Detector Technologies Research and Application Center (KTU-SETAM) aims to conduct R&D activities in sensor and detector technologies, develop innovative materials, and produce applicable technological solutions tailored for industry needs. The Center will provide a comprehensive research infrastructure to support "University-Industry Cooperation" by building national and international partnerships.

We Will Play a Leading Role in Science and Technology

Rector Prof. Dr. Hamdullah ÇUVALCI extended his best wishes for the success of the newly established centers and emphasized:

"As a university, we consider the establishment of research infrastructures that meet contemporary needs and contribute to the scientific advancement of our country a strategic priority. Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, and Sensor Technologies are among the transformational domains of the 21st century. With the newly founded research centers, we aim to achieve academic depth in these fields while fostering strong connections with industry to generate practical outcomes. KTU is committed to assuming a leading role in science and technology."

The newly established centers will promote interdisciplinary cooperation within the university, prioritize societal benefit, and further strengthen a scientific approach that fosters innovative solutions.
