KTU Crowned Champion at the TUA Astro Hackathon!

At the TUA Astro Hackathon held in Trabzon, the 2N3904 Team, composed of students from our University, won first place.

In the Trabzon leg of the competition, organized by the Turkish Space Agency (TUA) at the Özdemir Bayraktar Science Center, the team operating under KTÜ PROTEK, consisting of students from the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at the Of Technology Faculty, received full marks from the jury with their project titled “Seyrü Feza.” Within the scope of the project, an “Altın Rota” (Golden Route) System was developed by integrating data from the domestic satellite İMECE and Sentinel-1 with seismic data, enabling rapid and effective response for search and rescue teams during disasters. Throughout the approximately 36-hour hackathon, our students Ayşen BAŞKAN, Melisa TAŞKARA, Saim Burak BAYIR, Taha Ege DAŞLAR, and Talha Mert ERGÜN carried out intensive work and presented an innovative solution for disaster management through the Analytical Photogrammetry and Impact Monitoring (AFET) System.

Our Rector, Prof. Dr. Hamdullah ÇUVALCI, stated regarding this achievement:
“We are extremely pleased that our students achieved first place in such a significant organization and earned the right to participate in the ‘Türkiye Championship’ as regional champions. These results are a strong indication of our University’s research and innovation vision. I sincerely believe that the projects developed by our youth will contribute to our country’s ‘National Technology Initiative.’”
