"Artificial Intelligence and Simulation in the Training of Healthcare Professionals" Congress Hosted at Our University

Hosted by our University’s Faculty of Medicine, the “Artificial Intelligence and Simulation in the Education of Healthcare Professionals” Congress was held with strong participation between June 4–7, 2026, at the Prof. Dr. Osman Turan Culture and Convention Center under the motto “The Transformative Power of Artificial Intelligence and Simulation in the Education of Healthcare Professionals.” The congress brought together distinguished academics, researchers, and professionals from around the world who conduct innovative studies in the fields of artificial intelligence and simulation. It was organized with the participation of Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality Acting Mayor Ahmet Yüksel Gülay, Rector Prof. Dr. Hamdullah Çuvalcı, and Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Prof. Dr. Sevdegül Aydın Mungan. The event aimed to offer an opportunity to closely follow developments in the global healthcare education ecosystem and to expand international collaboration networks.

In his opening speech, Rector Prof. Dr. Hamdullah Çuvalcı addressed the attendees, stating: “As you know, the history of humanity is a history of major transformations shaped by changes in knowledge. Every new piece of knowledge not only creates new opportunities but also imposes new responsibilities on us. The process we face today with artificial intelligence and simulation technologies is such a critical threshold. Because technology is not an end in itself. What gives it meaning is the value it adds to human life. Every innovation developed in healthcare is intended to provide more accurate diagnoses, more effective treatments, and better-qualified healthcare professionals. Artificial intelligence opens new horizons in healthcare education through its power to interpret data, while simulation technologies do so through their ability to recreate experience. However, the real issue is not how advanced the technology is, but for what purpose and with what awareness we use it.”

Regarded as an important national and international meeting point to discuss the effects, integration methods, and future potential of artificial intelligence and simulation technologies in healthcare education, the congress hosted participants from the fields of Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Midwifery, Pharmacy, and other disciplines. This multidisciplinary platform also enabled attendees to experience innovative AI tools and simulation technologies used in the field through practical applications. The event, which attracted approximately 300 representatives from 11 different countries and 51 institutions across Türkiye, aimed to create a dynamic environment that supports transformation in undergraduate and specialty education while strengthening cooperation and knowledge sharing at both national and international levels. The congress welcomed participants interested in the field until June 7, 2026.
