Our History
Department of Medical Services and Techniques was established in accordance with, the letter of the YÖK Presidency dated 13.12.1989 and numbered BÖ/0706002/3648-266143 and the article 7/b-2 of the amendment made to the Law No. 2547 and Law No. 2880 at the 25.11.1989 meeting of the Council of Higher Education, under the Rectorate of Karadeniz Technical University.
In the Department of Medical Services and Techniques, education was first started with Nursing and Medical Laboratory associate degree programs.
Our Academic Staff
Educational activities are carried out with the support of 14 full-time faculty members within the Department of Medical Services and Techniques and faculty members within the Faculty of Medicine.
Our Physical Infrastructure and Facilities
In the detached building where the Department of Medical Services and Techniques physically provides services, there is a computer laboratory with 20 PCs and internet access, and a total of 5 classrooms, 1 for 20 people and 4 for 50 people. All classrooms have PCs and projectors.
Our Education and Training Practices
Professional internship practices of the programs in the Department of Medical Services and Techniques are carried out in the laboratory, diagnostic imaging units and secretarial offices of Karadeniz Technical University Farabi Hospital in coordination with the hospital management.
Successful students can have short-time (part-time) employment opportunities at Karadeniz Technical University Farabi Hospital during their internship practices.
Our Location
The Department of Medical Services and Techniques is located in the central Kanuni Campus of Karadeniz Technical University, on the same campus as the Faculty of Medicine. This allows students to easily benefit from the dormitory, dining hall, library, gym, medico-social and other social and cultural units and activities on campus.
Our Educational Objectives
By equipping the students of the Department of Medical Services and Techniques of KTÜ Vocational School of Health Services with the high-level professional knowledge and skills needed by the health sector through our training program prepared in accordance with international professional criteria in the field of health, we aim to ensure that our country's health services are in line with scientific, technological and contemporary values, considering the public interest. We aim to graduate as an exemplary Vocational School health technician who contributes to the development and strengthening of our students.
Our students
There are 70 student clubs established by student initiatives where Karadeniz Technical University students can spend their extracurricular time, gain organization, management, teamwork and communication skills, and develop their talents and personalities in a healthy way. Student clubs continue their activities under the Department of Health, Culture and Sports. Students maintain their communication with national and international professional organizations and organize events through clubs.

In addition to the courses they give, our faculty members also carry out their scientific research through KTÜ BAP, TÜBİTAK and Industrial Cooperation projects.
Our Programs Under the Department of Medical Services and Techniques
Internship Program
In addition to the course credits required to be completed by the students of KTÜ Vocational School of Health Services in order to be eligible to receive an associate degree, summer internship (practical work) for a total of 30 working days, within the framework of the rules of the Karadeniz Technical University Vocational School of Health Services Internship Directive, in order to increase their practical knowledge and skills that will contribute to their health education. ) is mandatory. It is essential that internships are carried out during the months that coincide with the semester or summer holidays. With the internship program, our students can find internship opportunities in many domestic and international health institutions.

As a department at our university, which has the status of a Research University, there are hospital practice opportunities that will enable our students to reinforce the theoretical knowledge they have acquired during the education process in practice. It is essential that the "Vocational Education in Business Administration" application, which is included in the department / program course curricula, be carried out during the education and training periods. Vocational Education in Business Administration begins during the education and training periods determined in the academic calendar of the Higher Education Institution and ends at the end of this period.

Our graduates of the Medical Laboratory Techniques program; He receives the title of "Health Technician". They can work in private and public hospitals, medical faculties, health centers, polyclinics, blood centers, private analysis laboratories, Hygiene Institutes, and institutions and organizations that carry out research and development studies in the field of medicine.
Our graduates of the Medical Imaging Techniques program; They receive the title of "Radiology Technician". They can work in public, university and private hospitals, in the Radiology units (conventional radiology, computerized tomography, magnetic resonance, angiography, mammography, fluoroscopy), Nuclear Medicine and Radiotherapy departments of private medical centers and private imaging centers.
Our graduates of the Medical Documentation and Secretarial program; They receive the title of "Medical Secretary". In addition to medical units such as clinics, outpatient clinics, laboratories, operating rooms and emergency services of public health institutions, they can also work in administrative units such as health board, patient admission, patient files archive, personnel, revolving fund and purchasing. In the private sector, they can work in private hospitals, private health centers, private laboratories, private clinics, pharmacies, private radiology centers, pharmaceutical warehouses and software companies.
Our First and Emergency Aid program graduates; They receive the title of "Health Technician". They can work in private or public ambulance services, university and state hospitals, private health institutions' emergency services and workplace emergency units.
