During the Covid-19 pandemic, distance education has become a teaching method used by all educators. In the Procedures and Principles Regarding Distance Education published by the Council of Higher Education (CoHE) on the 24^th of September 2020, it is publicly announced that " At the latest four weeks before the start of the academic year in each semester, up to 40% of the courses in the daytime and evening programs can be given both through formal and distance education, if the senate of the relevant higher education institutions approves and notifies to the Council of Higher Education.”

Distance Education has now become an important and constant part of higher education. Information security and protection of personal data in the distance education process is an important issue that everyone should pay attention to. The Law on the Protection of Personal Data No. 6698, which was published and enforced on April 7, 2016, aims to protect the fundamental rights and freedoms of individuals, especially the privacy of private life during the processing of personal data, and to regulate the obligations and the rules to be followed by real and legal persons who process personal data.

For our university staff to ensure information security during the distance education process and to continue their distance education activities in accordance with the Law on the Protection of Personal Data No. 6698, the "Protection of Personal Data and Privacy in Distance Education in New-normal" certificate program for our academicians has been organized. The duration of the training is flexible, so the staff can enrol the training whenever they wish to. After completing the training, the certificate of participation will be active under the content line and the academicians will be able to receive their certificates.
