Prof. Dr. Ali KAVGACI, Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy Üniversitesi

Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy Üniversitesi, Gıda Tarım ve Hayvancılık Meslek Yüksekokulu, Bitkisel ve Hayvansal Üretim Programında görev yapmaktadır. Ä°stanbul Üniversitesi Orman Fakültesi, Orman Genel MüdürlüÄŸü Batı Akdeniz Ormancılık AraÅŸtırma Enstitüsü ve Karabük Üniversitesi Orman Fakültesi daha önce görev yaptığı kurumlardır. Bitki sosyolojisi temelli olarak hazırladığı doktora tezini 2007 yılında tamamlamıştır. Doktora sonrası vejetasyon ekolojisi konularında araÅŸtırmalarına devam etmiÅŸ ve Türkiye ormanlarının vejetasyon çeÅŸitliliÄŸini anlama noktasında önemli katkılar saÄŸlamıştır. Ayrıca yangın ekolojisi, bitki biyolojik çeÅŸitliliÄŸi ve silvikültür konularında araÅŸtırmalar gerçekleÅŸtirmiÅŸtir. Özellikle Akdeniz tipi ekosistemlerin yangın sonrası vejetasyon dinamiÄŸi noktasında kapsamlı araÅŸtırmalar gerçekleÅŸtirmiÅŸtir ve bu konudaki çalışmalarına halen devam etmektedir. Orman Genel MüdürlüÄŸü AraÅŸtırma Ä°htisas Komisyonları Silvikültür ve Orman BotaniÄŸi Grubu BaÅŸkanlığı görevinde bulunmuÅŸtur. Karabük Üniversitesi Orman Fakültesinde Orman MühendisliÄŸi Bölüm BaÅŸkanlığı yapmıştır. Türkiye Ormancılar DerneÄŸi Bilim Kurulu Üyesidir. Uluslararası Vejetasyon Bilimleri DerneÄŸi bünyesinde yürütülen Avrupa Vejetasyon ArÅŸivi programı altında bulunan Türkiye Orman Vejetasyonu Veri Bankası’nın yürütücülüÄŸünü yapmaktadır.

He works at the Department of Plant and Animal Production, Food Agriculture and Livestock Vocational School, Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University. Faculty of Forestry of Istanbul University, Southwest Anatolia Forest Research Institute under General Directorate of Forestry in Türkiye and Faculty of Forestry of Karabük University are the institutions where he worked before. He completed his doctoral thesis based on plant sociology in 2007. He continued his research on vegetation ecology after his doctorate and made important contributions to understanding the vegetation diversity of forests in Türkiye. He also carried out research on fire ecology, plant biodiversity and silviculture. He has carried out extensive research on the post-fire vegetation dynamics of Mediterranean-type ecosystems, and he still continues to work on this subject. He served as the head of the Silviculture and Forest Botany Group of Forestry Research Specialization Commissions of General Directorate of Forestry in Türkiye. He was the head of Forest Engineering Department at Faculty of Forestry of Karabük University. He is a member of the Scientific Committee of Turkish Foresters Association. He is the custodian of the Forest Vegetation Database of Türkiye, which is under the European Vegetation Archive of International Association of Vegetation Sciences.
