EXPLANATIONS
a) Application, Placement and Pre-registration processes for international students in the 2026-2027 academic year will be done online between the specified dates.
b) Before applying, candidates should carefully review the following information, which will be useful for them during the application and registration process: placement calendar, application requirements, tuition fees, and the scores with which candidates were placed in which programs last year, etc., at https://www.ktu.edu.tr/oidb/uluslararasiogrenci.
c) Candidates who upload incomplete, incorrect, or erroneous documents during the application evaluation process will receive an error message via the email address they registered with. Therefore, candidates should frequently check their email addresses during the application process and, if they receive an error message, they should complete the indicated missing information and update their application. Applications of candidates who do not make the necessary corrections within the application period after receiving an error message will be considered invalid.
d) If candidates who submit false information/documents during the application process are found to be enrolled in our University, regardless of their stage of study (whether preliminary or final registration), their registration will be cancelled, and legal proceedings will be initiated against them.
e) Since the photograph that candidates upload to the system will be used in all subsequent official procedures such as student cards, etc., the photograph must be 4.5x6 cm in size, taken within the last six months, and biometric.
f) The Balkan countries mentioned in paragraph 3 of item (a) under the heading "Candidates Whose Applications Will Be Accepted" are: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Greece, Croatia, Serbia, Romania, and Slovenia.
g) To be definitively registered in the Maritime Transportation Management Engineering (30% English, undergraduate), Marine Machinery Management Engineering (undergraduate), and Marine Machinery Management (associate degree) programs, a Seafarer's Medical Certificate is required, and to be able to complete the program's internship, a Seafarer's Booklet is required. (Seaman's booklets, which serve as a substitute for passports, can only be issued to citizens of the Republic of Türkiye, or to citizens of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus who have received and/or graduated from maritime-related education in the Republic of Turkey or the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, or to foreigners of Turkish descent covered by the Law No. 2527 dated 25/09/1981 concerning the Right of Foreigners of Turkish Descent to Freely Practice Their Professions and Arts in Turkey and to be Employed in Public, Private Institutions or Workplaces. Foreign students who are studying or will study in associate and bachelor's degree programs related to maritime studies in our higher education institutions are entitled to take competency certificate exams as a result of their maritime education, and educational certificates can be issued in accordance with the education they have received. However, seaman's booklets cannot be issued to foreign nationals. Foreign nationals must request seaman's booklets from their countries of citizenship. Accordingly, since some countries do not issue seaman's booklets to female students, they should inquire with the relevant authorities of their own countries before making their choices regarding whether they can obtain a seaman's booklet.) (It will be to their advantage.)
h) Prospective students admitted to the Pharmacy Program must bring a Health Report stating that they do not have any health problems that would prevent them from pursuing Pharmacy education, along with their registration documents, during the final registration process.
i) International students studying in our country for higher education can remain in the status of "Higher Education Turkish Preparatory Class Student" for a maximum of four (4) academic semesters (2 years) in total, regardless of the university or department they are enrolled in. International students who fail at the end of this period cannot study again in the status of "Higher Education Turkish Preparatory Class Student".
j) The application fee is 1,500 TL (Turkish Lira) and must be paid online via credit card/debit card. You can pay the application fee by following the steps in the APPLICATION SYSTEM. Applications from candidates who do not pay the application fee will not be considered. The application fee will not be refunded in case of non-admission, nor will it be deducted from the tuition fee of accepted candidates.
k) For candidates applying, there are no time limits on the validity of exams approved by the Council of Higher Education, such as ABITUR, INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE, GCE, TAWJIHI, and similar exams that are equivalent to high school graduation exams. However, the validity period of university entrance exams such as SAT, TR-YÖS (Foreign Student Exam), and similar exams is two years.
l) Students are required to upload Turkish or English translations of their documents during the application process.
Documents to be Uploaded Online for Application:
1. Passport or Identity Card
2. Exam Result Certificate
3. Secondary School (High School) Graduation Certificate. (Turkish translation certified by the Turkish Embassy or Consulate in their country or by a notary public in Türkiye. For graduating high school students, a temporary graduation certificate or a document approved by the high school principal stating that they are eligible to graduate.)
4. Document Showing Secondary School Grade Point Average (Transcript, Turkish translation certified by the Turkish Embassy or Consulate in their country or by a notary public in Türkiye)
5. Detailed Population Registration Certificate (To be uploaded by candidates who are Turkish citizens, have renounced Turkish citizenship, or have renounced Turkish citizenship and obtained a blue card.)
6. Document proving completion of all secondary education (high school) abroad and security or passport records showing entry and exit from Türkiye (This document must be uploaded by Turkish citizens, those who have renounced Turkish citizenship, or those who have renounced Turkish citizenship and obtained a blue card, who have graduated/will graduate from a formal education institution or an open education program abroad, excluding the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. A certified document from their school confirming completion of all secondary education abroad and security or passport records showing entry and exit from Türkiye)
7. Residence Permit [(For candidates from Balkan countries who completed/graduated from high schools in Türkiye and whose one nationality is Turkish, those who have renounced Turkish citizenship, and those who have renounced Turkish citizenship and obtained a blue card, a document issued by the relevant authorities stating that they do not reside in Turkey) and (For candidates who are citizens of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and apply with a GCE AL exam result, a document issued by the official authorities stating that they reside in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.)]
8. Pish Danishgahi Certificate (To be uploaded by graduates of general and vocational high schools (Debiristan, Huneristan, Kar, and Danish) in Iran until the end of the 2017-2018 academic year.)

Cambridge System:
According to the Cambridge International Programme, to be considered a high school graduate, individuals must have completed:
Five subjects:
2 A levels + 3 O levels (GCSE) (at least a D grade/4),
2 A levels + 1 AS level + 2 O levels (GCSE) (at least a D grade/4),
Or Four subjects: 3 A levels + 1 O level (GCSE) (at least a D grade/4).
According to the IB education system curriculum, individuals must present a high school diploma (has been awarded diploma) in order to graduate from high school.
Candidates applying with the GCE (A Level) exam name will obtain their exam score by summing the numerical values ??corresponding to the letter grades specified below and dividing by the number of courses.
Numerical equivalents of letter grades: A&A+ =100, B=90, C=80, D=70, E=60, F=50
Formula for Converting Secondary School Score to a 100-Point System:
Equivalent in the Hundred-Point System = Secondary School Grade Point Average / Full Score in the Graduating System X 100
Formula for Converting TRYÖS Score to a 100-Point System:
Equivalent in the Hundred-Point System = (TRYÖS Score -100) / 4
B) EVALUATION AND PLACEMENT
At the General Assembly Meeting of Higher Education held on November 23, 2023, it was deemed appropriate to cancel the principles regarding the exams they conducted themselves and the exams conducted by other universities (YÖS), and to accept TR-YÖS (Foreign Student Exam) for the admission of students from abroad. In this context, students will not be admitted based on the exam results (Foreign Student Exam) conducted by our university and other universities.
a) Priority ranking in placements:
Placement will be based on the exam scores in Group A (defined in Table-1), Group B (if there are vacancies remaining), and Group C (if there are still vacancies remaining).
b) In case of a tie in placement scores, placement will be based primarily on the secondary education grade point average (for Groups A and B). If there is still a tie, placement will be based on the order of preference. If there is still a tie, the younger candidate will be preferred. (For Groups A, B, and C)
c) The number of candidates of the same country of origin accepted into a program cannot exceed 20% of the program's quota. The country threshold rule may not apply in the case of supplementary placement.
d) Candidates accepted into a program cannot reapply in the case of supplementary placement, regardless of whether they have completed their provisional (online) registration with our University.
e) Candidates who have applied to our University and whose applications have been approved, but who are not accepted into one of their preferred programs, will not be required to pay the application fee again to apply for supplementary placement.
f) Candidates who were born Turkish citizens in accordance with the Turkish Citizenship Law but lost their Turkish citizenship by obtaining permission from the Ministry of Interior to renounce it, candidates who can document that they hold a blue card issued to those who have lost their Turkish citizenship upon request, and dual citizens (one of whom is Turkish) and Turkish citizens who completed their entire high school education in high schools abroad (excluding high schools in the TRNC) cannot exceed 10% of the foreign student quota determined for the Medicine, Dentistry, and Pharmacy programs.
g) Tuition fees for the 2026-2027 academic year will be determined by the University's Board of Directors, taking into account the Presidential Decree published in the Official Gazette each July, and will be published at https://www.ktu.edu.tr/oidb/uluslararasiogrenci. (If provisional registrations are made before the publication of the Presidential Decree, candidates will pay the tuition fee for the previous year. However, the difference will be collected from students after the 2026-2027 tuition fees are announced.)
h) Placement results will be announced on the University's website on the specified date, and accepted candidates will be notified via email. No written notification will be sent.
