Our Erasmus+ Bilateral Agreements
Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering · Of Faculty of Technology
Under the Erasmus+ program, our department has bilateral agreements with 13 higher education institutions in 11 countries. Agreements with program countries in Europe fall under KA131 projects, while those with partner countries outside Europe fall under KA171 (International Credit Mobility) projects. Within the framework of these agreements, our students can study at partner universities, and our academic staff can take part in teaching mobility.

🎓 Application for Students
Who can apply for Erasmus+ study mobility, how, and with what score?
👤 Who can apply?
- Active students enrolled at KTU (preparatory class students cannot apply)
- Students with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.20 for bachelor's and at least 2.50 for master's and doctoral studies (first-year students who do not yet have a GPA cannot apply)
- Those with a valid English language score: the KTU Erasmus+ English Language Exam, or a YDS / YÖKDİL / TOEFL / IELTS result obtained within the last 5 years
- Students who have exceeded the normal duration of study must have a course load of at least 30 ECTS in the term they will spend abroad.
- At each level of education, a total of up to 12 months of Erasmus+ study and traineeship mobility can be used.
📝 Application steps
1
Obtain a language score
The KTU Erasmus+ English Language Exam is held at the beginning of each fall and spring term; the date is announced on the Coordinatorship page. Those who hold a YDS / YÖKDİL / TOEFL / IELTS certificate are not required to take the exam; all results are converted to the 100-point scale.
2
Submit the activity application
During the application period that opens after the language exam results, an online application is made and up to 4 universities are selected. Only institutions with which our department has an agreement and that are appropriate for your education level can be chosen. A student who takes the exam but does not submit an activity application cannot benefit from the program.
3
Placement and candidate list
Placement is made automatically based on the Erasmus+ score and preferences; the country or institution cannot be changed afterwards. The minimum score for the language exam is determined each term according to the budget and announced together with the results.
4
Acceptance and Learning Agreement
If the host institution accepts your nomination, your courses are matched with the help of the department Erasmus+ coordinator and a Learning Agreement is prepared. 30 ECTS of courses are taken per term and matched with 30-ECTS courses at KTU.
5
Mobility and return
Once visa and document procedures are completed, 80% of the grant is paid. Upon return, the courses taken abroad are recorded on the KTU transcript through grade conversion.
📊 How is the Erasmus+ score calculated?
KA131 (Europe): Erasmus+ score = 50% × (CGPA × 25) + 50% × language score
KA171 (Outside Europe): Erasmus+ score = 60% × (CGPA × 25) + 40% × language score
Example: A student with a CGPA of 3.00 (75 on the 100-point scale) and a language score of 70 receives a score of 72.5 under KA131 and 73.0 under KA171. The bonus points and deductions below are applied to this score; even with bonus points, a student who falls below the minimum score in the language exam is eliminated.
| +15 | Children of martyrs and veterans |
| +10 | Students with disabilities (with a Disability Health Board report) |
| +10 | Students for whom a protection, care, or shelter decision exists under Laws No. 2828 and 5395 |
| +10 | Students who, or whose first-degree relatives, receive AFAD disaster victim assistance |
| –10 | Having previously benefited from Erasmus+ mobility or having been placed on the primary list (–20 for those who benefited twice, –30 for those who benefited three times) |
| –10 | Giving up the right outside the recognized waiver period |
| –10 | Taking part in mobility in the country of citizenship |
| –5 | Applying for the language exam but not taking it without an excuse (in subsequent applications) |
| –5 | Not attending the Coordinatorship's meeting or orientation without an excuse after being selected (in subsequent applications) |
Bonus points are applied if the relevant document is uploaded to the system during the application.
📅 Next application: The next application period for KA131 study mobility will open at the beginning of the 2026–2027 spring term. KA171 application periods are announced separately according to the project schedule. For Erasmus+ traineeship mobility, students find their own placement.
