Datathon Event

Four different datathon events were held as part of the YBS2016-Information Management course, led by Assistant Professor Dr. Merve YILDIZ. These events, designed to explore the journey of data transformation into information, provided students with the opportunity to experience data preprocessing steps and different machine learning algorithms on various datasets. Supporting collaborative learning, these events aimed to help students grasp the fundamental logic of data science and apply their practical knowledge. At the end of the semester, a survey was conducted to evaluate the course. Some of the students' opinions regarding the datathon events are as follows:
“I’m glad I took this course. I was a little intimidated when I first heard about the datathon applications. But now I think the opposite. Analyzing and working with data was very enjoyable.”

“It allowed us to learn in practice alongside theory. This made it more memorable and educational.”

“Datathon applications improved my problem-solving and analytical thinking skills.”

“I think the applications were both educational and fun.”
“I plan to participate in similar activities in the future because I enjoyed it very much and I think it benefited me. I hope these kinds of activities continue to be held in classes.”
