NATO-science for peace and security

The project application titled "Control of Black Sea Safety and Pollution Risks Using Numerical Models", submitted to the call for proposals opened within the scope of the NATO-Science for Peace and Security (SPS) Program has been entitled to be supported.

The SPS Program, where applications are made directly to NATO, aims to improve practical cooperation and dialogue between NATO countries and partner countries through capacity building, security-related science and technology and innovations.

The project is coordinated by "California State University" in the USA, in partnership with "Tsotne Mirtskhulava Water Management Institute of Georgian Technical University" and "Ecocenter for Environmental Protection" from Georgia, "Institute of Water Problems and Land Reclamation of NASS" from Ukraine, "National Institute for Marine Research and Development" from Romania, "Atmosphere and Water Research Institute at Bulgarian Academy of Sciences" from Bulgaria and "Black Sea Technical University" from Turkey. 972$, duration of 36 months, and the project aims to discuss and assess the security and pollution risks in the Black Sea in the context of natural and artificial (technological) disasters. The project will also address various risks under different terrorist action scenarios, such as routing of oil terminals, tanker sinking capabilities and scenarios of military and terrorist attacks on Black Sea ports.
