Students Visit Çoruh EDAŞ for Technical Field Trip Within the Scope of Power Distribution Systems Course

On 27 April 2026, students enrolled in the Electrical and Electronics Engineering program at Karadeniz Technical University (KTÜ) conducted a technical field trip to Çoruh EDAŞ, one of the leading utility companies in the energy sector, as part of the "Power Distribution Systems" course taught by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fatih Mehmet Nuroğlu. The visit provided students with a valuable opportunity to observe real-world applications of power distribution infrastructure and to interact directly with sector professionals.

Throughout the visit, students received comprehensive information about the equipment and systems used in energy distribution networks. The trip was structured in three phases, each focusing on a distinct aspect of distribution system operations.

Phase 1: Equipment Familiarization

In the first phase of the technical trip, students were introduced to the conductors, luminaires, jointing accessories, modular cells, disconnectors, circuit breakers, relays, meters, and transformers used in medium-voltage and low-voltage distribution systems. Students had the opportunity to examine equipment used in the field up close and to learn technical details from expert personnel. The equipment presentation was delivered by Deputy Manager Mr. Emre Akyüz.

Phase 2: SCADA Control Center

In the second phase, the group visited the SCADA control center, where a hands-on demonstration was given of the fault management system integrated with a geographic information system (GIS). The session covered in detail how faults are detected through the system, how they are monitored via OSOS and OMS platforms, the integration with the call center, the work order creation process, and crew dispatching procedures. In addition, the electronic devices used within the SCADA system were introduced along with explanations of their functions. This session was conducted by Senior SCADA and Automation Director Mr. Alperen Ayık.

Phase 3: Training Field in Yomra

In the third and final phase, the group visited the company's training field in Yomra, where the operation of a modular cell was demonstrated through a hands-on application. Students also observed a pole-mounted transformer along with its fused disconnector and other associated components installed on the structure. This final phase reinforced the theoretical knowledge acquired in previous stages through direct field observation.

The visit offered students invaluable experiential learning by bridging classroom theory with professional practice in the electricity distribution sector. Insights gained through direct engagement with systems such as SCADA, GIS-integrated fault management, and field equipment are expected to significantly contribute to students' professional development. Güç Dağıtım Sistemleri Dersi Kapsamında Çoruh EDAŞ'a Teknik Gezi Düzenlendi

Karadeniz Teknik Üniversitesi (KTÜ) Elektrik-Elektronik Mühendisliği bölümü öğrencileri, 27 Nisan 2026 tarihinde Doç. Dr. Fatih Mehmet Nuroğlu tarafından yürütülen "Power Distribution Systems" dersi kapsamında enerji sektörünün önde gelen dağıtım şirketlerinden Çoruh EDAŞ'a teknik bir gezi gerçekleştirdi. Gezi, öğrencilere elektrik dağıtım altyapısının saha uygulamalarını yerinde inceleme ve sektör profesyonelleriyle doğrudan etkileşim kurma imkânı sundu.

Gezi boyunca öğrencilere elektrik dağıtım şebekelerinde kullanılan ekipmanlar ve sistemler hakkında kapsamlı bilgiler sunuldu. Teknik gezi, her biri dağıtım sistemi işletmeciliğinin farklı bir boyutuna odaklanan üç aşamada gerçekleştirildi.

1. Aşama: Ekipman Tanıtımı

Teknik gezinin ilk aşamasında, orta gerilim ve alçak gerilim dağıtım sistemlerinde kullanılan iletken kablolar, armatürler, ek aparatları, modüler hücreler, ayırıcılar, kesiciler, röleler, sayaçlar ve trafolar tanıtıldı. Öğrenciler sahada kullanılan donanımları yakından inceleme ve uzman personelden teknik detaylar öğrenme fırsatı buldu. Cihaz tanıtım sunumu Çoruh EDAŞ Müdür Yardımcısı Sn. Emre Akyüz tarafından gerçekleştirildi.

2. Aşama: SCADA Kontrol Merkezi

Gezinin ikinci aşamasında SCADA merkezine geçildi. Burada coğrafi bilgi sistemiyle entegre çalışan arıza yönetim sistemi uygulamalı olarak gösterildi. Arıza oluştuğunda sistemin nasıl devreye girdiği, OSOS ve OMS sistemleriyle nasıl takip edildiği, çağrı merkezi ile olan entegrasyon, iş emri oluşturma süreci ve ekip yönlendirmesi gibi konular detaylı biçimde aktarıldı. Ayrıca SCADA sisteminde kullanılan elektronik cihazlar tanıtılarak işlevleri hakkında bilgi verildi. Bu aşamadaki sunum, SCADA ve Otomasyon Kıdemli Yönetmeni Sn. Alperen Ayık tarafından gerçekleştirildi.

3. Aşama: Yomra Eğitim Sahası

Üçüncü ve son aşamada grup, Yomra'daki şirket eğitim sahasını ziyaret etti. Burada modüler hücrenin çalışması uygulamalı olarak gösterildi. Ayrıca direk tipi trafo ile üzerinde bulunan sigortalı ayırıcı ve diğer elemanlar incelendi. Bu son aşama, önceki aşamalarda edinilen teorik bilgilerin doğrudan saha gözlemiyle pekiştirilmesine önemli katkı sağladı.

Teknik gezi, öğrencilere sınıf ortamında edinilen teorik bilgileri elektrik dağıtım sektöründeki mesleki uygulamalarla buluşturma açısından son derece değerli bir öğrenme deneyimi sundu. SCADA, CBS entegreli arıza yönetimi ve saha ekipmanlarıyla doğrudan temas halinde kazanılan bu deneyimlerin öğrencilerin mesleki gelişimine önemli katkılar sağlayacaktır.
