dean's message

Dear Students,

Karadeniz Technical University Faculty of Pharmacy started offering education at the beginning of the 2011-2012 Academic Year. Despite the fact that the establishment is recent, our faculty has created the academic staff in a very short time as 8 Professors, 7 Associate Professors, 7 Dr. Lecturers, and 17 Research Assistants.

Our faculty has student laboratories and research laboratories with necessary and sufficient equipment to carry out undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs for each branch of the discipline. Numerous studies conducted in the our laboratory have been supported by Scientific Research Projects Unit of Karadeniz Technical University (BAP) and Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK).

Within the scope of our faculty, Phytopharmacy Specialty Program has been approved by the Board of Pharmacy Specialties within the scope of Specialization in Pharmacy.

Our aim is to graduate the pharmacists for our country and all over the world, in all drug-related fields, with the skills and equipment to carry out their work. Thus, our graduates are targeted to work in the pharmacies and hospital pharmacies, in education and research in universities, pharmaceutical and cosmetics industry, pharmaceutical warehouses, research and development centers, Turkey Medicines and the Medical Devices Agency (TİTCK), Social Security Institution (SGK), analysis laboratories, drug and poison information centers, cell and stem cell treatment centers, radiopharmacy laboratories, drug consulting companies, and professional organizations (e.g. Turkish Pharmacists’ Association, TEB).

Our faculty has been entitled to be fully accredited for 6 years as of January 27, 2020, by complying with the standards set by ECZAKDER, which has been registered to accredit Pharmacy Education, and the Pharmacy Core Education Program.

As in the whole world, due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic in our country as of March 2020, various restrictions and some mandatory practices had to be made. Distance education has been introduced in higher education institutions. Our faculty has organized its programs in a way that will not cause any disruption in education standards and quality; as in all units of our university, our faculty has achieved full compliance with distance education. Summer internships continued without interruption, and hybrid education was introduced in the 2021-2022 academic year, with all applied courses being face-to-face.

We believe that our faculty, together with its academic staff, administrative staff, students, alumni and stakeholders, will always go further and better in the coming years.

Best regards…

                                                                                                                                                Professor Ufuk ÖZGEN
