7.13. Policy on advanced digital technologies

Karadeniz Technical University integrates advanced digital technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), data analytics, digital automation, and decision-support systems into its institutional operations to enhance sustainability management and service delivery. The university’s digital transformation efforts are guided by the Digital Transformation Office Directive, the Digital Transformation Strategic Action Plan, and the KTU 2024–2028 Strategic Plan.

Within this framework, core university functions—including student services, academic administration, human resources, financial management, research administration, and institutional performance monitoring—are managed through integrated digital platforms such as the Information Management System (BYS), Electronic Document Management System (EBYS), AVESIS, BAPSIS, the Performance Management System, and other institutional information systems. These platforms support efficient data management, digitalization of administrative processes, and evidence-based decision-making across the university.

To strengthen institutional governance, Karadeniz Technical University utilizes data-driven monitoring and reporting systems for tracking strategic objectives, evaluating performance indicators, and assessing institutional activities. In addition, AI-supported digital services such as the KTU Assistant provide 24/7 guidance to students and staff regarding academic procedures, regulations, applications, and frequently requested information, improving accessibility and service quality.

The university also promotes IoT and smart campus applications through sensor technologies, intelligent infrastructure systems, and data collection platforms designed to support energy efficiency, infrastructure monitoring, and resource optimization. Research centers and technology development units contribute to the development, testing, and implementation of these innovative digital solutions, further strengthening the university’s sustainable campus ecosystem.

To ensure the reliability, security, and continuity of digital services, Karadeniz Technical University implements an ISO 27001-based Information Security Management System, supported by two-factor authentication, secure access control mechanisms, cybersecurity monitoring, and continuous improvement processes. Through this comprehensive approach, the university utilizes advanced digital technologies not only to improve operational efficiency but also to support sustainability governance, strategic decision-making, and high-quality service delivery across all institutional functions.
