Our University participates institutionally in international activities related to data collection, assessment, and indicator monitoring in the fields of environment, climate change, and sustainability.
Within this framework, the Karadeniz Technical University Environmental and Climate Change Application and Research Center (KTU ÇEVİK) has been included in the list of Topic Centre Organisations established under the European Environment Information and Observation Network (EIONET) of the European Environment Agency (EEA). Within this structure, KTU ÇEVİK is one of the expert organisations that will provide technical and scientific contributions to environmental data, information, and assessment activities carried out at the European level.
The areas in which the Center will contribute include land use and waste, biodiversity, forests and forestry, climate change adaptation, climate risks and vulnerability, fisheries and aquaculture, climate and health, geographic information, governance, and indicators related to the 8th Environment Action Programme. These areas are directly related particularly to SDG 3, SDG 6, SDG 11, SDG 12, SDG 13, SDG 14, SDG 15, and SDG 17.
Participation in the EIONET network enables our University to make scientific contributions to the collection, measurement, assessment, and international comparison of environmental indicators related to sustainable development. In this way, our University forms part of a European-level institutional cooperation mechanism for monitoring data and indicators associated with the SDGs.
