Number of Events Related To Sustainability
Karadeniz Technical University (KTU) actively organizes numerous sustainability-related events in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through seminars, panels, training programs, workshops, awareness campaigns, and practical activities, the university aims to promote sustainability awareness among students, academic and administrative staff, and the wider community.
During 2025, KTU organized a wide range of sustainability-focused events addressing topics such as climate change, carbon and water footprint reduction, recycling, waste management, biodiversity, forest and water management, microplastic pollution, sustainable cities, green campus practices, and environmental resilience.
Some of the sustainability-related events organized by the university are listed below:
In addition, KTU’s Zero Waste Coordination Office organized numerous training activities under the “Zero Waste Training Series.” These programs focused on recycling, waste reduction, environmental awareness, conservation of natural resources, and the promotion of sustainable lifestyles. Within this framework, more than 30 different training events were conducted under the Zero Waste Training Series.
The sustainability-related events organized at KTU aim not only to raise environmental awareness but also to encourage the active participation of students, researchers, and society in achieving sustainable development goals. Through its activities on zero waste practices, green campus initiatives, climate change adaptation, natural resource management, and environmental resilience, the university significantly contributes to the dissemination of a sustainability-oriented culture.
As a result, Karadeniz Technical University demonstrates a strong institutional commitment to sustainability through the numerous seminars, panels, workshops, educational programs, and awareness activities organized throughout the year. These activities contribute to increasing environmental awareness, promoting climate responsibility, improving resource efficiency, and fostering sustainable living practices both within the university community and in society at large.
