Employment practice living wage (2025)

The salaries and financial rights of academic, administrative, and other staff employed at our University are determined in accordance with national public personnel legislation, collective agreements, and relevant labour legislation. Salaries at our University are not determined arbitrarily or on a unit-by-unit basis; rather, they are calculated within a nationally established remuneration system based on the employee’s legal status, employment category, position/title, grade and step, length of service, educational background, and other applicable financial entitlements.

Every employee who begins working at our University is entitled, from the date of appointment, to the salary and financial benefits stipulated under the legislation or employment contract applicable to their position. Salaries are paid regularly on a monthly basis. Factors such as seniority, promotion, additional teaching duties, overtime, and similar elements are also reflected in salary calculations in accordance with the relevant legislation. Accordingly, employee remuneration is not based on personal or discriminatory considerations, but rather on predetermined and standardised salary and financial entitlement regulations applied across public institutions throughout the country.

The principal legal frameworks governing the financial rights of academic and administrative staff include Civil Servants Law No. 657, Decree-Law No. 375, and Higher Education Personnel Law No. 2914. In particular, the salaries and other financial rights of academic staff are regulated under Higher Education Personnel Law No. 2914, while the financial and employment-related rights of administrative staff are governed primarily by Civil Servants Law No. 657, Decree-Law No. 375, and other relevant legislation.

This system ensures that employees at our University receive at least the salaries and financial entitlements guaranteed by law and collective agreements. Therefore, Karadeniz Technical University has strong and verifiable institutional evidence demonstrating that employees are paid in accordance with applicable legislation and that salaries are determined and paid in a regular, transparent, and standardised manner.
