Karadeniz Technical University (KTU) has implemented a comprehensive Action Plan for Reducing Plastic Waste to minimize the environmental impact of plastic use across all campuses. The plan outlines measures to reduce, reuse, and replace single-use plastics with sustainable alternatives.

The initiative includes awareness campaigns, sustainable procurement policies, and waste segregation systems to promote responsible consumption. KTU encourages departments, suppliers, and students to actively participate in reducing plastic dependency and to adopt environmentally conscious habits.

Through this plan, KTU contributes to SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production and SDG 13 – Climate Action by addressing plastic pollution and promoting circular economy practices within the university ecosystem.
