2.9. Green building implementation elements across all buildings

In 2025, Karadeniz Technical University continued to implement and maintain green building practices across selected campus buildings, integrating energy efficiency, indoor environmental quality, sustainable site planning, water conservation, resource management, and preventive maintenance measures.

Energy Efficiency: High-efficiency LED lighting, occupancy sensors, lighting zoning, daylight-based control, solar-shading systems, and regularly maintained HVAC infrastructure in selected campus buildings.

Indoor Environmental Quality: Daylighting, external views, glare control, acoustic comfort, thermal comfort, and effective ventilation are incorporated to improve indoor environmental conditions and user well-being.

Sustainable Site Planning: Green roofs, landscaped areas, shaded pedestrian routes, mature vegetation, and heat-island reduction measures support environmentally responsible campus planning.

Water Efficiency: Rainwater harvesting systems, water recycling practices, and sensor-operated fixtures are used to reduce water consumption and improve resource efficiency.

Materials and Waste Management: Recycling systems, hazardous-waste segregation, sustainable purchasing, material reuse, and recycled-content materials support circular resource management.

Monitoring and Maintenance: Regular inspection, calibration, preventive maintenance, and system monitoring ensure that green building measures remain operational and maintain their environmental performance.
