Karadeniz Technical University actively supports student engagement in sustainability through its student club ecosystem. In 2025, the university had 90 active student clubs, several of which directly focus on environmental protection, sustainable development, health promotion, social responsibility, and community engagement.
Based on the activities carried out during 2025, at least six student organizations were directly involved in sustainability-related initiatives:
These organizations implemented a wide range of activities aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including afforestation campaigns, coastal and environmental clean-up activities, recycling and zero-waste workshops, sustainability awareness stands, climate and forest fire awareness projects, animal welfare initiatives, health promotion campaigns, social solidarity activities, and educational programs for children and local communities.
In total, student clubs organized 742 events in 2025, and a significant portion of these activities contributed directly to sustainability objectives. As evidence of this engagement, 30 sustainability-related events were documented, covering themes such as environmental conservation, biodiversity protection, sustainable consumption, public health, volunteering, social inclusion, responsible citizenship, and community awareness.
Through these student organizations, Karadeniz Technical University promotes active student participation in sustainability initiatives and encourages students to contribute to environmental, social, and economic sustainability both on campus and in the wider community.
