Call for Undergraduate Scholarship Applicants for a TÃœBÄ°TAK Project
Software Engineering
We are seeking an undergraduate scholarship recipient to work for 6 months on data labeling processes for the 1002-A project titled “Development of a Deep Learning-Based Model and Original Image Dataset for Small Object Detection in UAV Images,” led by Research Assistant Elif KANCA GÜLSOY.
Scholarship Recipient’s Responsibilities
• Labeling objects (vehicles, pedestrians, etc.) in drone images using bounding boxes
• Verifying the consistency and accuracy of labels
• Assisting in the division of the dataset into training, validation, and test sets
• Converting labels into different formats and verifying them
• Filtering out low-quality (blurry, shaky) images
• Regularly backing up and versioning the dataset
Required Qualifications
• Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student in Computer or Software Engineering
• Possess a meticulous, detail-oriented, and organized work ethic
• Ability to dedicate at least 3 hours per week to the project
• Experience using one of the image annotation tools
• Basic knowledge of Python (file operations, simple format conversion scripts)
• Interest in image processing, object detection, or deep learning
