Our Production Has Started With 3D Selective Laser Melting Method

METAM Directorate

Additive manufacturing is the focus of attention of the healthcare, aerospace, automotive, defense and manufacturing industries due to its advantages such as not requiring a large number of machinery and equipment required in traditional manufacturing methods, reducing waste materials, shorter production time, easy production of parts with complex geometries and reducing the workforce became like that.

In order to bring this new technology to the infrastructure of our university, with the production of biomaterials and advanced engineering materials using the "Selective Laser Melting Method", which is one of the additive manufacturing technologies,  The infrastructure project titled “Production of Biomedical and Advanced Engineering Materials by Selective Laser Melting Method” submitted by Assoc. Dr. Temel Varol to the KTU-Scientific Research Projects Coordination Unit (BAP) was accepted and with the supported project budget, Karadeniz Technical University Medical Device Design and Production Application and Production “Selective Laser Melting” device was added to the infrastructure of the Research Center (METAM).
