history

The Department of Industrial Engineering was established within the Faculty of Engineering-Architecture in 1995 with the decision of the Council of Higher Education and was transferred to the Faculty of Engineering in 2005. After meeting the need for sufficient physical space and personnel for education, the master's program started in the 2010-2011 academic year, followed by the undergraduate program in the 2011-2012 academic year.

Founded in 1995, our department utilizes the strong educational infrastructure of our university to train versatile engineers who are involved in activities aimed at ensuring the efficient use of resources such as human, technology, knowledge, time, money, raw materials, and energy, and improving the quality of work. The education given in this context is carried out under two departments: Industrial Engineering and Operations Research. The Industrial Engineering discipline covers topics such as Production Systems Design, Production, Maintenance-Repair, Planning and Control, Engineering Economics, Quality Engineering, Ergonomics and Work Study, Ergonomics, and Supply Chain Management. The Operations Research discipline focuses on fields such as Probability-Statistics, System Analysis, Simulation, Optimization, Decision Making, and Intelligent Systems.

Our department students have the opportunity to participate in internships and educational activities at European universities through the Erasmus exchange program. They can also benefit from the Farabi exchange program to study at domestic universities for at least one semester.

As a result of the accreditation studies initiated to raise and continuously improve the quality of education and scientific research, our undergraduate program was accredited by the Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Engineering Programs (MÜDEK) until September 30, 2023, and authorized to issue EURO-ACE diploma supplements.

Since the 2010-2011 academic year, a master's program has also been carried out in our department. In addition, the doctoral program has been started as of the 2023-2024 spring semester. For more detailed information about postgraduate education, please visit the web page of the Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences.
