Science beyond borders: global collaboration in the digital age event was held

On 27 November 2025, the Department of Geomatics Engineering at Karadeniz Technical University organized an academic event titled “Science Beyond Borders: Global Collaboration in the Digital Age”, aimed at undergraduate students of the department and graduate students of the Institute of Science, Geomatics Engineering Program. The event was held in the Prof. Dr. Erdoğan Özbenli Auditorium and was accessible both in person and online via Microsoft Teams. The program brought together our undergraduate and graduate students, faculty members attending in person or online, as well as Prof. Dr. Janusz Walo from the Faculty of Geodesy and Cartography, Warsaw University of Technology (Poland), who participated virtually.

Moderated by Prof. Dr. Emine Tanır Kayıkçı, the event featured Dr. Kutubuddin Ansari, an international faculty member in our Department’s Division of Geodesy, as the invited speaker. In his presentation titled “Multi-constellation Global Navigation Satellite System Applications in Various Aspects of Geodesy,” Dr. Ansari shared numerous research studies and project outcomes he has conducted since 2014 within the scope of his international academic mobility in India—his home country—as well as Turkey, Nepal, Thailand, South Korea, and Poland. His talk highlighted the use of GNSS techniques in earthquake research, sea-level monitoring, meteorological studies, and climate-related investigations.

This meaningful event, attended by students and academic staff of the Department of Geomatics Engineering, was met with great appreciation for reinforcing the department’s scientific diversity and vision of internationalization. Based on the positive feedback received from participants, it was emphasized that similar scientific events should continue to be held regularly.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Dr. Kutubuddin Ansari for sharing his valuable scientific work, which significantly contributes to the academic vision of our department.
