Summary: Two novel cascaded coding method are proposed to overcome inter symbol interference (ISI), composed of frequency selective Rayleigh fading channels in this thesis. Firstly, the proposed method consists of combined Reed-Solomon (RS) and convolutional coding (CC) with permutation coding (PC). Secondly, the proposed method consists of combined Turbo coding (TC) with permutation coding (PC). Computer simulations are performed to verify the efficiency of the proposed methods and compare with RS-CC and TC in frequency selective Rayleigh fading channels. The first proposed RS-CC-PC technique provides high SNR improvement of approximately 4.5 dB in AWGN channel and 4 dB in frequency selective channel. The second proposed TC-PC method provides high SNR improvement of approximately 6 dB in AWGN channel and 5 dB in frequency selective channel. The obtained simulation results have demonstrated that the proposed methods have considerably better performance than RS-CC and TC techniques.
