The Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Engineering Programs (MÜDEK) is an independent accreditation body that evaluates engineering programs against established quality criteria. MÜDEK accreditation indicates that a program has undergone a comprehensive external review covering students, program educational objectives, student outcomes, curriculum, academic staff, infrastructure, institutional support, and continuous improvement processes.
The Industrial Engineering Undergraduate Program at Karadeniz Technical University is accredited by MÜDEK until this date. Our department continues its improvement activities to enhance the quality of education and maintain the continuity of accreditation.
Accreditation is more than the award of a certificate. It is an ongoing quality process that requires the regular monitoring of program objectives, curriculum, student learning outcomes, academic staff, and infrastructure, followed by evidence-based improvements.
The evaluation includes a review of the program's self-evaluation report and supporting evidence, an on-site visit by a team of experts, and an independent determination of the extent to which the program satisfies the applicable criteria.
MÜDEK is a national accreditation organization recognized by the Turkish Higher Education Quality Council to accredit engineering programs.
MÜDEK is a full member of the European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education and is authorized to award the EUR-ACE® label to eligible engineering programs that it accredits.
MÜDEK is a signatory to the Washington Accord. The Accord supports recognition of the substantial equivalence of engineering qualifications accredited by its signatories.
Our Industrial Engineering Undergraduate Program underwent its first general evaluation, conducted by MÜDEK. Following the evaluation, the program received MÜDEK accreditation and the EUR-ACE® Bachelor label for the first time, valid from 1 May 2020 to 30 September 2023.
As part of the continuation of the first accreditation period, the program underwent an interim evaluation. Following the successful completion of the process, MÜDEK notified our department on 26 June 2023 that the accreditation had been extended until 30 September 2026.
Before the new accreditation period, the program underwent another general evaluation. The review comprehensively examined its educational activities, program outcomes, quality assurance practices, stakeholder engagement, and continuous improvement actions implemented after the previous evaluations.
Following the general re-evaluation, the MÜDEK accreditation and EUR-ACE® Bachelor label of our Industrial Engineering Undergraduate Program were renewed for the period from 30 September 2026 to 30 September 2028.
Our department regards accreditation not merely as a certificate valid until a specified date, but as a dynamic process that supports the continuous enhancement of educational quality. We remain committed to monitoring program outcomes, evaluating stakeholder feedback, developing the curriculum, and strengthening quality assurance mechanisms with the same dedication in preparation for future evaluation periods.
