Project Aim

In order to contribute to projects that will be executed in research fields that are of strategic importance for our country within the scope of the programme, it is aimed to promote successfull researchers, particularly Turkish scientists, who have come to the fore with top level scientific and/or technological achievements in their fields and who have experience to work in an international environment, to conduct their research in Türkiye, and to provide support for them to pursue their work in leading state or foundation universities, research infrastructures deemed competent within the scope of Law no. 6550, public research institutes, private sector companies with R&D or design centres or equity companies settled in Türkiye within the bodies of techno parks.  

*The support base score will be determined separately for researchers working in the field of artificial intelligence (AI), providing an advantage to researchers working in this field.

Conditions)

• Researchers who will apply to the program must be working abroad as of the first day of the application.
• Researchers who will apply to the program must not have been in Turkey for more than 6 months in the last 3 years as of the first day of the application. Force majeure and compulsory military service to be accepted by GYK are excluded from this period.
• Any of the following work experiences must be provided as of the first day of application.
• Researchers who have completed their doctorate and have worked abroad for at least 4 years as a faculty member / team leader at a university or public research center / have conducted independent academic research.
• Researchers with 6 years of full-time research experience, provided that at least 3 years of post-graduate studies have worked in the private sector abroad (at most 1 year of the thesis master's education completed abroad or 3 years of the completed doctoral education period is evaluated within this scope).
• Researchers with the above-mentioned working experiences must meet one of the following conditions.

• Being on the "Most Cited Researchers List" published by Thomson Reuters in any year of the last three years as of the first day of application.
• Having worked at least 48 months uninterruptedly in an institution in one of the following rankings in any year of the last 5 years as of the first day of the application.

• Top 100 universities in field-based rankings within the scope of QS (QuacquarelliSymonds) or THE (Times HigherEducation) World University Rankings
• The Top 2500 Companies with the Highest R&D Spending in the World, published by the European Commission Joint Research Centre.
• Top 250 institutions in the subfields of health - higher education - public - private in the Scimago Institutions ranking
• Successful Start-Up and Unicorn Companies Receiving the Most Investments

• List of "Unicorn" companies, published by CBInsights, that have reached a valuation of $1 billion or more from the venture level

• According to Crunchbase and CBInsights databases, the top 1000 companies that were established in the last 5 years and received the most investments in the last 5 years

Support Rate

It is 100% if the host institution is a state university.

Project Time

The support period for the project is minimum 24 months and maximum 36 months.

• Applications are made online via the TYBS system within the dates announced in the call announcement.
• Before applying, the application conditions and the evaluation method and process should be read carefully.

The documents to be uploaded to the application system must be in Turkish or English. Certified Turkish or English translations of documents prepared in other languages ??must be uploaded.

Features of the Program

• The support items provided within the scope of these programs are as follows;

• Scholarship for the coordinator,
• Family allowance (if applicable),
• Initial research grant,
• Research project grant,
• Grant intended for establishing a research team (scholarship for up to 5 graduate students and post-doctoral researchers the project coordinator will include in the research team for conducting his/her research in Türkiye)
• Project Incentive Bonus for researchers involved within the scope of the research project,
• Institutional share allowance for host institution,
• Health insurance for the coordinator and his/her family,
• Travel allowance for the coordinator and his/her family,

• Mentoring Support.
