CALL FOR VOLUNTARY PRESENTATIONS

Individuals wishing to submit a voluntary oral presentation to the Symposium on the Non Wood Products are requested to submit an abstract of their proposed presentation by 15 September 2006. Abstracts will be accepted in English.

WRITING RULES

  1.  Presentations should be formatted in the following manner: written as a Word document, printed on one side, page format DIN A4, top and bottom margin 5 cm, left margin 4,5 cm, right margin 4 cm, line spacing 1.5, font type Arial and font size 10pt. Please number pages consecutively in the bottom right corner. Page numbers must be placed in page limits. Any abbreviations must be explained in the text. Please number figures and tables consecutively in the order in which they occur in the text. All figures must be provided in reproducible form.

 

  1.  Presentations should be as concise as possible, compatible with clarity and completeness, and should occupy max. 10 printed pages. Only complete reports will be published. The text should be divided into Introduction, Methods, Results and Discussion sections. The Results and Discussion sections can include additional subheadings. There should be 1,5 line spacing before and 1 line spacing after the section headings in the text.
  1.  The title page should include the author's name(s), affiliations and the address to which all correspondence should be sent. A telephone number, fax number and e-mail address should also be supplied. The title must be written in caps lock, bold characters and in the middle.

 

  1. All papers must include an Abstract not exceeding 200 words which should be made as far as possible intelligible to a more general audience. There should be 3-5 key words provided to the abstract.
  1. For accepted presentations the full paper must also be sent as data file in a standard word-processing format (Microsoft Word, Word Perfect, or rtf) on diskette, zip disk, or CD-ROM for publishing.

 

  1. Give the scientific name of each species in full, together with the authority for its name where appropriate, at first mention in the main text. Scientific names should be written in bold and italic characters.
  1. Each table and figure must have a reference in the text. Tables should not have any vertical lines. Photographs (no photocopies) are required as originals for copying. Scans should have high resolution.
  2. The references should be in alphabetical order according to the names of the authors and should give the full title of the paper. Anonymous contributions should be cited at the beginning of the bibliography.
  3. Each reference should conform to the examples given below:

a. From journals:
Alkan, H . and M. Eroğlu, 2001. A Contribution to the Knowledge of Cerambycidae (Insecta: Coleoptera) species of the Eastern Black Sea Region in Turkey, Turkish Journal of Entomolgy, 25 (4): 243-255.

b. Books or other non-serial publications:

Chapman RF, 1998. The insects - Structure and function. 4th edition. Cambridge University Press, Cambridge .

c. From congress and symposium presentations:

Özcan, G.E. and H. Alkan Akıncı , 2003. The Effects of Insect Pests on the Oriental Spruce Forests Under Traditional Utility in the Eastern Black Sea Region of Turkey, Proc. 31 st International Forestry Students Symposium, (1-15 September 2003, Istanbul), 91-95.

In the running text, citations should be made as in the following examples: Eroğlu et al. (2004), Alkan-Akıncı and Özcan (2003), Ünal et al. (1998), or (Weber, 1990), (Grégoire et al., 1984) . Up to two authors, give the names; for more than two authors, give the name of the first author followed by " et al ."
Poster presentations should be 90X120cm in size and read from 2m, font size 36pt in headings, 24pt in text and 18pt in references.
