ACTIVITIES
Folk dance and Performances

With the participation of interested and talented students, KTU Folk Dancing Group displays 6-10 dances every year. Being the founder and a member of the Black Sea International Folk Dancing Festival (BÝF), it has hosted the participant countries and has displayed their dances along with the participants. Such kinds of activities are going to be held in the coming future as well.

Apart from the activities of the Folk Dancing Group, performances and programmes are arranged by the department of Physical Training.

Theatre and Cinema

With the active participation of interested students, KTU displays at least two plays a year. The theatre group also participates in various festivals and displays in the cities of Eastern Black Sea Region periodically. Moreover, KTU, hosting the theatre groups of different universities, arranges a theatre week in Aprils hence giving its students the chance to see different plays. Volunteers can join the theatre classes which are the elective courses of the Faculty of Fine Arts.

Another activity among other social opportunities is the cinema days. With this in mind, movies are displayed for students..

Music

A group that is led by the Faculty of Fine Arts has been formed among the students interested in music, namely Turkish Folk Music Group and a Pop Music Orchestra. The groups mentioned perform concerts both in the university and in the surrounding cities, and participates in contests and festivals arranged by other universities.

Sporting Activities

It is the duty of the Health, Culture and Sports Affairs to provide students with the sporting activities they need and freely benefit from all of them. Concerned about its students’ needs for sporting activities, KTU provides courses according to their needs.

Sports contests are held every year during March-May among the units. All faculties and schools from Artvin to Ordu participate in these contests which include athletics, basketball, badminton, football, handball, table tennis, mini football, chess, tennis and volleyball.

Student Council

KTU Student Council plays the most important role in communicating students’ views and issues first to the Rectorate and to the different units of the university. The Council is represented by the Head of the Council in senate meetings and it represents the students of KTU in various activities held either in the university or among other universities.

The Council elections are held every year by the Election Board at a given venue and date determined by the University Board. A class representative election is carried out in the classes of the faculties or schools. Similarly, class representatives elect their department representatives; and the department elect the faculty or school representatives.
