In this study, Değirmendere Basin, a sub-basin of Eastern Black Sea, is studied. The importance of Trabzon has increased the geo-political importance of the basin. The existence of Atasu Dam, which provide the drinking and domestic water, has doubled its importance. In this study, physical, land use and socio-economical characteristics of the basin are firstly determined. Then, various problems of the basin are evaluated from the point of view of hydrology. In this context, the problems related to flood, landslide, erosion and Hydro Electric Power Plants are investigated and in the end of the study, some solution proposals to these problems are presented. As a result of the study, it has been evaluated that, it is very important to plan and handle the basin with the context of integrated basin planning and management. It has been also concluded that, within the context of usage-protection balance, it is necessary to study the problems as a global view of environmental, social and economical perspectives.
